I haven’t posted much on this year’s milk disposal crew, but R’s bacon seeds have been growing well. With fair coming up it was time to break out the weight tape again to see where they’re at.
After I noticed I was holding a piece of Fulton County memorabilia, I almost didn’t want to wrap it around the pigs. 😂iykyk

I’d like to take a moment to introduce Bob (Bobby?), our newest member of the pest removal department.
Who in the last week has already been way more productive than the mice removal section of the department. I swear Larabell and Bubbles just watched a mouse run by, yawned, and rolled over. 🤦‍♀️slackers

It’s been a few years since we’ve had our small herd appraised, but we were able to get our six girls appraised this weekend. Personally I find LA to be a valuable tool, not just for the scores but more so for the learning experience. Learning what all goes into scoring a doe always seems to make for an “a-ha” moment- being able to put a name to what it is that I’m looking at in my does, both for traits I like and those that I’m looking to improve.

Getting on the road a little later than hoped, but we’re Columbus bound for the Ohio State Fair dairy goat show!
🤷‍♀️ May have been up late last night finishing shaving two cantankerous dry yearlings, breaking out the JB Weld to put part of the trailer back together, rounding up show supplies, and worried about making sure the kid’s show whites were accounted for, and whatnot ….and somehow forgot about making sure I had clean clothes to pack. 🤦‍♀️
But no worries, thanks to having grown up watching MacGyver I was able to come up with the solution of a quick wash and an improvised clothesline. 😂

eta: The jeans were dry when we arrived at the fairgrounds btw.

We certainly would not be ones to neglect our goats...so if you visit,
best not to come inside the house...just saying...

SOLD

Two year old Lamancha type registered Experimental doe, currently in milk, seeking new accommodations.

Tall and long with a will to milk, Amy is hard to part with - but the herd size needs to stay manageable and cutting the lone experimental doe keeps decisions simple.
She’s used to being milked by hand and with a machine, averaging 7 #/day. Like her dam and dam’s dam, she knows what her job is and runs to the milk stand when let out for milking. She’s a first freshener, kidded unassisted with twins on 2/24/25.
Currently being milked twice daily, but if still here will be dried off after our appraisal date (8/9) and put in with one of our Lamancha bucks. Asking amount will change if bred.
Whole herd tested CAE negative at the end of 2024.
