Changing Behaviors Not Just Teaching Tricks - 40+ yrs experience

Working on some duration of the sit with Harley Rae today. She is such a sweet girl and loves affection. We just need to teach her to stay seated until release for that affection.

This is Gabe, Neo’s little brother. Gabe is the sweetest little guy but very soft and didn’t give me much engagement at first because he’s so used to to just running and playing with Neo that human interaction is not at the top of his list. You can see how I’m building that here. Engagement is so important when training or you’re just forcing a dog to do what you want it to do out of compliance. That’s why my training takes longer with certain dogs and every dog I train isn’t on a timeline. Great job little buddy!!

Approach to training each dog individually is so important. You have to gain a dogs trust and get them to follow you before you can lead them into stressful things in order to overcome their insecurities. Penny needs some confidence building but I needed her to trust me before I could start helping her build that confidence. Such a good girl!!

LOOK AT HIS EYES Pay attention to a dog’s pupils! They tell you everything. Whale eyes say I don’t trust you! The one on the left is when Woo first got here. The one on the right was just before I took his muzzle off.

BRIGGS- I don’t post a lot of work with this boy but he was feeling spunky this morning so I thought I’d video it! Always the greatest and gives me such excitement!! Good boy buddy!!
