A little flashback picture of the ones who mean the world to us ❤️ and to help remind us that the weather could be worse! Spring is upon us! 🌺 Thank you to our prayer warriors for Curt, me and our family. 🙏 We apprecuate your patience and understanding as we navigate through. Curt continues to fight this multiple myeloma with weekly immunotherapy infusions, and daily immunotherapy medication. His response labs after the first 28 days of treatment shows a good response, so that is encouraging. Unfortunately, his pain has intensified in his mid-back & ribs. We consulted with both his spinal oncology and neuro-interventional radiology team, and they all agreed that radiation therapy would not help his pain; instead a vertebroplasty would help relieve 40-50% of this pain. So this surgery is scheduled for Friday. Please pray that this will alleviate a lot of his pain, and pray as well for him as he processes through so much right now. We thank all of you who have provided meals, support texts, cards & gas/monetary help to us; these mean more than you know. May each of you have a blessed Easter! ❤️Dr. Shoemaker

My KC is missing. We live on corner of Packard and Bothwell so if you see her, please call me at 517-458-4149. She is very friendly, likes to ride in vehicles, good with other animals and kids.

We have waited to make this announcement until we knew more details, but wanted our clients to know what is going on. We also want to ensure you that we are keeping on as usual at MVC, and appreciate your understanding if our schedule may sometimes change.

Curt (Dr. Shoemaker’s husband) has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Multiple Myeloma, with extensive bone disease. But even as advanced as this is, there have been many breakthroughs in treatment over the last 3 years, and we are very thankful for this. He will begin the induction phase of treatment, with a weekly infusion, for the next 4-6 months. Then he will get a high dose round of chemotherapy to kill off the remaining myeloma cells, and then undergo an autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT). At our appointment last Wednesday with his oncologist at Rogel Cancer Center, Dr. Terebelo was very encouraging with this treatment plan, and looks for him to be in remission within 8-9 months! And he also said that Curt should be able to work throughout most of this process, which was a huge relief for him to hear. He will then be maintained on 2 targeted immunotherapy drugs to keep the myeloma cells at bay for as long as possible.

We are very thankful for all of your prayers, messages and cards that have been sent, as we start this journey. We are grateful for each of you! ❤️ God is providing every step of the way, and we see this daily. 🙏 How fitting that March is Multiple Myeloma awareness month! 💪. May we always focus on, and praise God for, the good things and live each day fully. ❤️❤️❤️

Research shows a cat's purr can heal bones and promote tissue repair:

Cats may purr when snuggled in your lap, but the soothing rumble isn’t just a signal of happiness.

Research suggests that the vibration is produced by muscles within the larynx, which dilate and constrict the glottis as the cat breathes. This results in a sound with frequencies ranging from 20Hz to 150Hz — known to correspond with therapeutic healing frequencies for bones and tissues in humans. Studies find that bones respond to the pressure of a cat's purr by hardening.

In fact, cats often purr in stressful situations, during recovery, or even when facing death, hinting that the purr may function as a form of self-soothing or physical rejuvenation.

Behavioral experts, such as Marjan Debevere and Gary Weitzman, highlight the varied meanings behind a purr. Cats might purr to express nervousness, communicate with other cats, or simply as a way to encourage humans to feed them.

As researchers continue to study feline communication, one thing is clear: the purr is more than just a simple expression — it’s a biological marvel that deepens our understanding of the bond between cats and their humans.

A current hypothesis suggests the purr indicates contentment, however, cats purr when they are severely injured or frightened. Forty‐four felids were recorded i
