MVC and surrounding areas, are OUT of power, with no time of restoration given as of yet, so we will be CLOSED today. No one prepares you for how quiet the house feels on the first night after losing your pet.

The absence is loud. The routines are gone. The silence can feel heavier than the grief itself.

In On Grief and Grieving, Elisabeth Kübler-Ross and David Kessler remind us that grief does not move in a straight line. It comes in waves. You may cry, feel numb, laugh at a memory, then cry again. All of it is normal.

Unexpressed tears do not disappear. They stay inside the body. Tears are simply love finding a way out.

If you feel relief mixed with sadness, that does not mean you loved them less. Sometimes relief is the calm after the storm of watching someone you love suffer.

If you are questioning your decisions, remember this. If you could have done better, you would have. Most senior pets carry incurable disease. Different choices may have changed moments, but they would not have erased the loss.

Your grief is valid. Your loss is unique. And the quiet you are feeling is the echo of a bond that mattered deeply.

You are not doing this wrong. 🤍
