We want to start by giving a big thank you to the Lawrence High School National Honor Society! Their group of volunteers comes to HSWA twice a month to help care for our animals, and we truly appreciate the time and hard work they put in. We're lucky to have such a dedicated group of students supporting our shelter! ❤️🐾

They are also busy preparing for their annual Craft Fair and Festival of Trees, coming up on Saturday, November 7th, from 9am–2pm! Half of the NHS proceeds from this year's craft fair will go toward supporting the animals in our care. They have already raised $800! We are so grateful that they continue to find ways to give back to our shelter! 🎄

Students from MMTC Business, Marketing & Entrepreneurship have organized a fundraiser to support our shelter! 🐾

We are so grateful for their hard work and dedication to helping animals in need!

🐾 BIG ANNOUNCEMENT- INTRODUCING TOYS 4 TAILS! 🎄

Our class has been working hard behind the scenes, and I’m excited to finally share what they’ve been putting together!

Through our partnership with The D-Max Effect and they chose to partner with the Humane Society Waterville Area, and have officially launched TOYS 4 TAILS!

Our goal is to collect 1,000 toys by December 4th, along with bedding for the dogs and cats waiting for their forever homes!

We need your help to make it happen!

You can donate online, purchase some of the merchandise our students are making, or drop off pet toys and bedding at donation boxes going up at area schools and businesses!

They came up with the name Toys 4 Tails, hand drew their own logo, and are making shirts, hoodies, and stickers to raise money for this great cause!

We’re looking for businesses that would like to host a donation box or help support our students with this project. If you’re interested, please reach out!

Now, here’s what I’m really excited about!

This entire project is being put together by our STUDENTS!

They came up with the name, drew the logo, designed the merchandise, created the flyers, put together the donation boxes, and are handling the marketing, sales, fundraising, production, and reaching out to organizations in our community.

They’ve taken an idea and are turning it into something real!

A huge thank you to Dorian “D-Max” Pillsbury and Lisa from The D-Max Effect for coming into our classroom and partnering with us on this project! Their story and encouragement really got our students thinking about what they could accomplish.

And thank you to the Humane Society Waterville Area for partnering with us and giving our students an opportunity to make a difference!

Have you met Sophie yet?! 🐾💗

Sophie is 5 years old, spayed, and quite possibly the sweetest little weirdo you’ll ever meet! 😂💕 This girl is awkward, silly, lovable, and full of those quirky little things that make her SO special. Honestly, she might just be everything you didn’t know you were missing! 🥹

Sophie can live with cats and kids, and she may be compatible with SOME other dogs her size or bigger, but she does have a few quirks of her own. She needs someone who’s willing to be patient, learn her personality, and give her the understanding she deserves. And trust us, this girl is SO worth it! She may be a little oddball, but that’s part of her charm!

This big, handsome boy is almost 2 years old, neutered, and weighs in at around 100 pounds of pure personality! 🐶
