🎃✨ Happy Halloween! Glow sticks may be a fun part of the festivities, but they can be unpleasant for pets who bite into them.

The liquid inside is generally not considered toxic, but it can cause a bitter taste, excessive drooling, foaming, and mouth irritation. If your pet chews on a glow stick or glow jewelry, rinse their mouth with water and monitor them closely. 🐾

If symptoms persist or you’re concerned, contact our team for guidance. https://dirigovet.com/contact/

Keep the glow fun, and the glow sticks out of paws’ reach! 👻🧡

This National Cat Day, we're celebrating our feline companions by highlighting something just as important as belly rubs and treats: their health. 🐾

Cats are naturally skilled at masking discomfort, which means common conditions like kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, dental disease, and diabetes can develop gradually and go unnoticed.

Being aware of a few key signs, changes in thirst, appetite, weight, or energy, can make a meaningful difference in catching these conditions early, when they're most manageable.

Routine wellness visits remain one of the best ways to stay ahead of your cat's health, even when everything seems fine on the surface.

This National Cat Day, consider giving your cat the gift of preventive care. If you have questions or it's time for a checkup, we're here to help. https://dirigovet.com/contact/

An annual exam is more than just a checkup. 🐶

During your dog’s wellness visit, our team may assess weight, heart and lung health, teeth and gums, joints and mobility, and recommend bloodwork based on age and risk factors. This National Pet Wellness Month, schedule an exam to support early detection and lifelong preventive care. https://dirigovet.com/contact/

Proper leash control = happier, safer walks. 🐶✨

Stick to a standard 4-6 ft leash, keep a secure grip, and always look for that relaxed "J" shape slack while you walk!

Save this post for your next walk! 📌

10/21/2026

Shorter days mean more walks in the dark! 🌙🐕 Keep your evening adventures safe with a few simple steps: use reflective gear or LED collar attachments, choose familiar and well-lit routes, and make sure both you and your dog are easy to see. A little extra visibility helps support safer walks and better pet wellness all season long. ✨

Please join us in celebrating and thanking our amazing team for Veterinary Technician Week!

We are incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful group of people at Dirigo Veterinary Care. Each member of our team brings their own unique strengths, personality, knowledge, and compassion to the table, and together, they make our hospital what it is. From caring for our patients to supporting one another through the busiest days, we truly couldn’t do it without them!

✨ Meet the amazing people who make our team so special! ✨

🦷 Bethany, LVT — Our dental expert! Bethany brings her specialized knowledge and skills to our dental patients, helping keep those tails wagging and smiles healthy.

😂 Hannah, LVT — Bringing youth, laughter, and a great sense of humor to the team! Hannah knows how to keep things light and bring a smile to the room, even on the busiest days.

🐈 Marsha, Veterinary Technician Assistant — Our go-to girl for those spicy, fractious kitties! Marsha has a special knack for handling our feline friends who aren’t always thrilled to be at the vet.

🩺 Jamie, Veterinary Technician Assistant — An incredible wealth of knowledge! Jamie brings so much experience and know-how to the team, and we are lucky to have someone we can count on.

Cats are experts at hiding illness, a survival instinct that can make health problems difficult to spot until they're more advanced. 🐱 That's why annual wellness exams are so important. Our team can detect subtle changes, identify concerns early, and recommend preventive care to help keep your cat healthy for years to come. This National Pet Wellness Month, don't wait for symptoms. Exercise doesn’t have to mean running miles! 🐾 Slow walks, swimming, sniff adventures, and enrichment games can help dogs stay active while being gentle on their joints. Every little bit of movement counts.

Could adoption myths be keeping you from your perfect match? 🐶💙

The right dog may not be the age, breed, or personality you originally pictured. Puppies aren’t always the easiest option, older dogs can learn new skills, and a dog’s time in a shelter doesn’t define how they’ll behave in a home.

Keep an open mind, ask questions, and focus on finding a dog whose needs, energy level, and personality fit your lifestyle. Your perfect match might surprise you!
