We knew you wouldn't let us down. Hell yeah.

This was our biggest Ales for Tails fundraiser yet! We're happy to announce we raised $1500 for Best Friends Animal Rescue and their team as they help Good Sam recuperate from an injury caused by an unthinkable act. Another reminder that dogs are generally better than people.

Thank you so much to our generous guests, other local businesses, and Alaskan Brewing Co. for their help in getting Sam the treatment he needs to live his best four-legged life.

Meet Piston, an Aussie mix with a heart of gold and eyes that will completely melt yours. This sweet boy is already a total superstar when it comes to good manners.
Piston is exceptionally smart, picking up on his training faster than you can blink. He is already crate trained, sleeps soundly through the entire night, and gets better every day on leash. Right now, he is hard at work mastering his commands, practicing sit, stay, woah, and let’s go with plenty of enthusiasm (and treats).
Beyond his brains, Piston is an absolute joy to have around. He loves heading out for walks to explore the neighborhood, has a wonderfully healthy appetite as a great eater, and likes scratches and pets, but not cuddles.

Meet Pinion, a petite Aussie mix with a smaller stature, a super-smart brain. He is a snuggle champion, but behind those innocent eyes is a spunky, mischievous adventurer who keeps everyone on their toes. Pinion is fully house trained, crate trained, sleeps soundly through the night, and getting better on the leash, but thinks fast cars are pretty scary. He is currently mastering his foundational cues with plenty of enthusiasm, including sit, stay, woah, and let’s go.

He’s the kind of dog who’s ready to tag along for whatever the day has planned, whether that’s heading out on an adventure, playing around the yard, or hanging out with his people afterward. Lucky has that goofy, lovable energy that makes it pretty hard not to smile when he’s around.

We are incredibly honored and grateful to share that Best Friends Animal Rescue (that's us! 🥹🥹🥹) has been selected as the Alaska recipient of Miranda Lambert's MuttNation Mutts Across America grant!

Each year, MuttNation and Tractor Supply Co. recognizes one outstanding shelter or rescue in every state through its Mutts Across America program by researching, reviewing the work they do and their online presence, and hand selecting an organization and we are beyond thrilled (and shocked!) to represent Alaska this year.

Rescue work isn’t always easy. It’s late nights, bottle babies, emergency vet visits, overcrowded homes, endless loads of laundry, and saying “yes” to animals who sometimes have nowhere else to go. But it’s also second chances, happy endings, incredible fosters and adopters, and watching an animal finally realize they’re safe.

And to have that work recognized by Miranda Lambert and MuttNation Foundation means more to our little homegrown rescue than we can adequately put into words. Alaska is our home and we are PROUD to represent it.

Thank you, MuttNation Foundation, for believing in the work we do and for supporting shelters and rescues across the country. This grant will go directly toward helping us continue to help the animals that need us most across our great state.

And, as always, thank you to our fosters, volunteers, adopters, donors, veterinary partners, and everyone who has supported Best Friends Animal Rescue these past years. This recognition belongs to all of you, too. ❤️
