🐾 FUN FACT FRIDAY: The Superpower in Your Dog's Wet Nose! 🐶

Ever wonder why your dog's nose is always wet? It’s not just to leave smudge marks on your clean windows! 🪟
That layer of moisture actually acts like a high-tech "scent velcro." 🦠 When your dog sniffs the air, the wetness traps tiny scent particles. Then, your dog licks their nose to "taste" those particles, sending them straight to a special scent organ on the roof of their mouth.
Essentially, they can smell in 3D!
🕶️So, the next time your pup wipes their wet nose on your leg, just remember: they are just gathering data on where you've been. 🕵️‍♂️

Show us those sniffers!👇 Drop a close-up photo of your dog's nose in the comments below! Let's see those boopable snoots! 😍

🇺🇸 Honoring Our Heroes & Keeping Pets Safe This Memorial Day 🇺🇸

This Memorial Day, our team pauses to remember and honor the brave men, women, and service animals who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. We are deeply grateful for their service.

Whether you are hosting a family barbecue or relaxing at home this weekend, please keep these quick Vet Safety Tips in mind to keep your pups out of the clinic:

🍔 No Table Scraps: Onions, garlic, bones, and fatty BBQ meats can cause severe stomach issues or pancreatitis.
🪵 Watch the Charcoal: Lighter fluid and hot coals pose a major burn and toxicity risk.
🎆 Anxiety Watch: If loud noises stress your dog out, create a quiet, secure space indoors.
☀️ Beat the Heat: Dogs don't sweat like us. Keep fresh water available and never leave them in a parked car.
⚠️ Holiday Hours Reminder: Our clinic will be CLOSED on Monday, May 25, 2026, so our staff can spend time with their families.

We will reopen for regular hours on Tuesday, May 26.

If you experience a pet emergency while we are closed, please give us a call and follow the directions on the after hours line.
Have a safe, beautiful, and meaningful weekend! ❤️🤍💙

🐾 MYSTERY SOLVED: Why your dog spins 47 times before p**ping 💩

Ever stand outside in the freezing rain waiting for your dog to find the perfect spot, wondering if they are testing your patience? They aren't just being dramatic. Science says dogs actually prefer to p**p in alignment with the Earth’s magnetic field (specifically the North-South axis)!
🧭 Often, they spin around just trying to calibrate their internal compass. So next time your pup takes 10 minutes to do their business, just remember: they are conducting a highly advanced scientific experiment. 😄

Today is National Rescue Dog Day, and we want to give a massive shoutout to all the resilient pups we see every day! 🐾🩺

As veterinarians, we have the privilege of seeing the incredible transformation rescue dogs undergo once they find a loving home. We’ve seen "shuts-down" shelter pups turn into "wiggle-butt" champions, and it never gets old.

To the owners who take a chance on a senior, a "tripod," or a pup with a medical history—you are our heroes. Thank you for giving these dogs the medical care and love they deserve.

We want to see our patients! Post a photo of your rescue dog below and tell us which local shelter or rescue they came from. Let’s celebrate the local organizations that make these matches possible! 👇

Baking a masterpiece? Keep these "No-Go" ingredients out of reach! 🚫🥧

We love World Baking Day, but the kitchen can be a landmine for curious pets. If you’re whipping up something sweet today, please keep these toxic ingredients off the counter:

Xylitol (Birch Sugar): Often found in sugar-free baking mixes and peanut butters. It is extremely toxic to dogs.

Chocolate & Cocoa Powder: Most of us know this one, but dark chocolate and baking cocoa are the most dangerous!

Yeast Dough: If eaten raw, it can rise in a pet's stomach, causing severe bloating and alcohol poisoning.

Macadamia Nuts & Raisins: Common in cookies, but both can cause serious illness.

Clinic Tip: If your "helper" licks the bowl or steals a cookie and you aren't sure if it's safe, give us a call right away! 🩺

Happy National Endangered Species Day!

Today, we’re looking at the "wild cousins" of our favorite patients. Whether it's the Mexican Gray Wolf (cousin to our dogs) or the Tiger (which shares 95.6% of their DNA with domestic cats), these incredible animals deserve a future.

We are proud to be part of a profession that advocates for the health and welfare of all creatures, great and small. 🦒🩺

If you could save one endangered species from extinction, which one would it be? Tell us your favorite "wild" animal in the comments!

Summer is just around the corner! Taking your furry co-pilot on the road? 🚗🐕

If your pet is joining you on your summer adventures, don’t forget to pack their "suitcase" too! Traveling can be stressful for animals, so here is our Vet-Approved Travel Checklist:

📁 Records: Keep a digital or paper copy of their vaccination records (especially Rabies!).

💊 Medications: Pack enough for the whole trip plus two extra days—just in case of delays.

🏷️ ID Check: Ensure their microchip info is up to date and they have a sturdy collar with your current phone number.

Many hotels and airlines require a Health Certificate issued within 10 days of travel. Give us a call at 636-390-9280 to schedule your travel exam before you hit the road! ✈️

Fun Fact Friday!

Your cat’s ears are basically high-tech satellite dishes! 🐈🛰️

Ever wonder how your cat knows you’re opening a bag of treats from three rooms away? It’s all in the ears!

The Science: * Cats have 32 muscles in each ear (humans only have 6!).

They can rotate their ears 180 degrees independently of one another.

They can hear ultrasonic sounds, which helps them "see" with their ears when hunting in the wild.

Basically, your cat is a tiny, furry superhero with elite surveillance equipment.
