FPAS Mission:

Our mission is to provide for the safety and well being of rescued pigs and other farm animals. As a sanctuary, our goal is not future adoption. Instead, we strive to provide these animals with a forever home to live out their lives happily in an environment that is as natural and free from stress as possible while actively promoting public education and advocacy. Our Story:

Flying Pigs Animal Sanctuary is a registered 501c3 non profit corporation formed in November 2020 and located in Waller TX. We are dedicated to brightening the futures of rescued pigs and other animals that need a second chance. FPAS is the final step of a long time dream. Co-founder Kim LaFon has been rescuing animals and caring for them on her small farm for almost two decades. She’s provided a forever home for dogs, cats, horses, pigs, sheep, reptiles, rabbits, birds, and any other critters that wandered in. The rewards far outweighed the financial burdens and physical challenges. However we all know times are changing and it is increasingly more difficult to continue this dream on her own. Costs of day to day operations are rising and needed repairs are very expensive. In order to continue to serve the animals and potentially even grow the operations she decided to incorporate and seek the public’s help to make this dream a permanent reality. Kim, along with co-founding board members Stephen Slack and Sandra Vines, have some big plans for FPAS including much needed repairs and even an expansion to allow for rescuing more pigs. We’re planning some fun fundraising campaigns for the new year and plenty of social media presence. We would like to invite all of you to follow along on this journey with us and share, support, and donate if you can. We appreciate all of your help to change their future... one life at a time.

Unfortunately this is so true and needs to be said… rescues are at a breaking point and it’s the animals that suffer 🥲

This post may offend people, but honestly, I’m past the point of not saying anything‼️

The surrender requests keep coming in, and I feel like a broken record saying the same thing over and over:

KEEP. YOUR. COMMITMENT.

Even after the devastating videos of Sebastian losing his home, we somehow received MORE requests from people wanting to give up their animals. These are REAL statements we’ve received:

“My pig got uncontrollably big.” —> not a reason to rehome your pig.
Piglets grow into pigs. That’s how biology works. Overfeeding also leads to obesity.

“My pig keeps getting out.” —> not a reason to rehome your pig.
Proper fencing exists. Hog panels. T-posts. Space to roam. This is fixable.

“I just don’t have the time.” —> not a reason to rehome your pig.
Do you think we magically have more time? We care for 150 animals while working full-time jobs.

“We are moving.” —> not a reason to rehome your pig.
Your pig can move with you.

“We are moving into a neighborhood that doesn’t allow pigs.”
→ You already knew you had pigs when you chose where to move.

“We are emotionally, physically and financially exhausted caring for our 4 bunnies and 2 cats.”
→ How do you think WE feel caring for 150 animals while juggling jobs, bills, emergencies, heartbreak, and messages like this daily?

Animals are not temporary entertainment until life gets inconvenient.

They are living beings you made a commitment to.

Research before you get an animal.
Prepare before you buy.
And stop expecting rescues and sanctuaries to clean up every avoidable decision people make.

Clarence has not been quick to accept little Tink back after her surgery but I think we are finally good again. I’m so glad… they were so close before I hated seeing him be aggressive toward her. It is a reality of pig dynamics though and it just takes patience to get through these things. ❤️🐷❤️

I’m so happy to see this beautiful smile!! Henry is finally active and eating again after losing his longtime companion Ella last week. We were pretty worried about him but I think he’s going to be ok now. ❤️🐷❤️

It truly breaks my heart to post that we lost our beautiful Ms Ella Pig yesterday. As you know she has been battling cancer, but she seemed so much better. She was fine for breakfast but at some point while napping in the grass she passed away. I have no idea what happened and we are devastated. No one more than her long time companion Henry who refused to leave her side even as we buried her near where this pic was taken. He spent most of the night lying next to the grave and barely ate this morning. It will take some time for him to grieve this loss.

Please keep all of us in your thoughts as we could use some strength right now. It seems every loss just gets harder than the last. To our brave and gentle Ella… RIP beautiful girl and fly high with all of the angels over the bridge. We love you 💔
