CH QUIETWOOD LEONARDO DI SER PIERO DA VINCI JH CGC "Leo"
Is he perfect? Heck no. But I'm pretty proud of this guy.
It often takes a village and it really did at the Colorado Regional Specialty and all-breed shows. Leo was quite a handful as he was determined every girl wanted him! I really can't run around the ring with a dog this size any more so anyone foolish enough to give it a try was on our list of potential handlers. Many many thanks to Susie Pool and Chuck Forry who took him in the ring. And thanks to Debby Forry who is the best stacker I know for photos! Also thanks to co-owner Beverlee Steinberg who wrestled Leo outside the ring every day!

And just like that, you have outgrown your baby bed.

Happy New Year!

This is the perfect night to go outside and play with puppies and dogs. All QuietWood puppies are exposed to noises here. Even when we can't count on fireworks, it never fails we have opportunities to go outside and play when neighbors (or family) decide it is time for target practice.

October and November we get fireworks from the nearby Renaissance festival. New Years and Independence Day we for sure have fireworks nearby. And nearly every weekend gun fire.

Also the frequent sounds of workworking/building, hammering, saws, grinding, you name it.

Whenever I hear these things going on, I take the opportunity to take puppies and adults outside to play. You need to have established some fun game like fetch ahead of time. This isn't necessarily the time to introduce a new activity. But go outside and do something that they already think of as fun. Maybe just having you out walking with them. Maybe take a pocket full of cookies and hand them out randomly when there is a big bang.

Continue this even when your dogs are adults and older. Occasionally a dog that has not been sound sensitive can become so later in life. Take time to have some fun when you get these opportunities and chances are good your dog will never have anxiety from storms, fireworks, etc. Note, be safe playing in the rain when lightning is close. Yes, I do go out with them during storms sometimes also!
