From Keepsakes to Cuddles: Supporting Saving Grace

I support Saving Grace by donating in memory of friends who’ve lost their beloved pets. I also gift personalized handmade cards with their pet’s name and a meaningful quote—keepsakes that are always deeply appreciated.

I occasionally host dogs for weekend sleepovers and plan to connect with the volunteer coordinator to explore more ways to get involved.

One of my favorite memories is “failing” as a host with Krinkle—a sweet rascal who stole my heart and became a beloved member of my home. I always encourage friends who are grieving to consider hosting. Sometimes, a few cuddles are all it takes to start healing.

A Season of Thanks 🧡
Today we’re celebrating our incredible shift volunteers — the hearts and hands behind the everyday care of our pack at the farm. Their work is quiet, consistent, and absolutely critical to the well-being of our dogs. What they give, they get back a thousand times over from pups like our favorite (and recently adopted) hugger, Jeremy, whose love reminds us all why this work matters. 🐾💛

Because of them, every dog here gets a second chance — and a life filled with safety, dignity, and joy.

Thank you to our Sunday night (office) team, and to every shift volunteer throughout the week. We’re grateful for you today and every day. 🧡🐶

Host Update from Dakota's weekend sleepover!

"Dakota stayed with me for an extended holiday sleepover, and in the 4½ days she was with me, this sweet little girl absolutely won my heart. She’s only about 14 inches tall, but she has a huge capacity for affection, fun, and connection.

Dakota did wonderfully in my two-bedroom apartment, though like most dogs she would probably enjoy having a yard. She settled quickly into a consistent feeding and bathroom routine and did great with structure. She was a bit timid the first day, but by day two her personality blossomed — you could see her inner puppy start to shine through.

She loved the toys I got her, but her favorite “activity” was simply having me sit with her while she played, explored, and showed her goofy, happy side. Dakota responds beautifully to gentle corrections. If she grabbed a sock or picked up something she shouldn’t on a walk, a calm “not for dogs” was all it took — she dropped it immediately. She is very trainable and eager to please.
Above all, Dakota is a world-class cuddler. Whether it’s curling up next to you on the couch or sleeping peacefully beside you at night, she just wants to be close to her person. She’s a true velcro dog in the sweetest way.

We took a 5-mile walk every day, and she loved every minute of it. She was friendly with everyone we passed and is curious, social, and confident on the leash. She also does great in the car — calm, relaxed, and content.

With patience, love, and a stable home, Dakota will make a wonderful, loyal addition to someone’s life. She’s fun, affectionate, sassy, silly, up for adventures, and so ready to bond deeply with her forever family. Whoever adopts her will be incredibly lucky."

To help keep you warm on this cold rainy Friday; we want to share another Happy Tail. Onyx's (fka New Brunswick) family reached out to share an update on their gorgeous girl!

"New Brunswick, now Onyx, has been a blessing to us. The Vet that we use was very impressed with what you do at Saving Grace as far as the records that were kept. My brother will be seeking another companion soon and will be calling on you guys. Onyx training is going very well, she is still curious about everything. I am exceptionally thankful for Saving Grace expanding my family with Onyx!"

She looks so healthy and happy which is what we love to hear and see. Thank you for adopting!

Host Update from Sazh's weekend sleepover!

"Sazh is Simply the Best!!!

The best word to describe Sazh is Love. He loves cuddling with everyone he meets.

Sazh is very well-behaved. He is easy to walk on a leash, and loves to be outdoors. He is calm, fully house-trained, and friendly. He is loving, smart, and playful. He never begged for food while our family members were eating.

Sazh follows the lead of his people, accommodating to what they are doing. He will walk when they want to walk, rest when they want to rest, play when they want to play, and so on.

Sazh adjusted to our home environment with no problem. He slept quietly through the night.

Sazh is gentle when taking treats. He patiently stands still when the harness is being put on. He did not chew anything other than toys and treats in the house.

Sazh only barked briefly for a couple times while he was with us, and never aggressively.

Sazh did not spend time with kids or cats when he was with us. When he met several dogs while he was on his walks, he was interested in greeting them, but never showed any aggressive behavior or barking.

Sazh rides very well in the car. He remains calm and looks out the window.

The family who gives Sazh his forever home will feel as though they have won the lottery!"
