💛 Meet Barktholomew — one of our current medical cases 💛

Meet this sweet, middle-aged boy who just took his freedom ride to Saving Grace. He is heartworm positive and will need a front leg amputation due to a previous injury. As he receives the care and support he needs, we’re focused on helping him move forward toward a healthier, more comfortable life. Once he recovers with one of our gracious volunteer fosters, he will be ready for adoption.

When we unexpectedly lost our dog and felt the absence of a family pet, a friend recommended we try the Weekend Sleepover Program at Saving Grace. Horst (now Jack), our second foster, was happily out of the puppy stage but bigger than our previous pets by far. Lifting him into the car was an adventure! He howled the entire drive home, sharing his displeasure. As it turned out, the secret to peaceful, love‑soaked joyrides was simply a head in someone’s lap. The cold weather allowed us a few extra sleepover days and we chose him with all our hearts.💙

Our kids loved the heart-shaped spot on his nose (so close to Valentine’s Day) and took it as a sign he was meant to be ours. Jack was so gentle with the kids, shadowing them ready to play, laying on the floor during nap time and resting sweetly in my daughter’s lap while she read to him. We knew Jack was meant to be and no medical complications would have stopped us from adopting him.

Saving Grace did an incredible job clearly communicating the foster‑to‑adopt process while he needed medical care. It was a relief to continue fostering him and keep him in our daily lives through his neuter and heartworm treatments. All medical fees were covered, and our adoption fee—along with bringing Jack to the farm and picking him up afterward—felt like a small price to pay for his companionship and love.🐾

Jack, our Gentle Giant, has been a member of our family for over a year now and I’m so thankful that Saving Grace paired us up for a weekend sleepover. He is well-loved and spoiled. He likes to sit in the sun on our front porch watching our kids play with the neighbors, awaiting welcome head rubs from visitors. Jack’s happy ending was made possible by Saving Grace’s programs, medical care, and fosters. With continued support, many more dogs can find the same love.✨

🐾 On this week’s Animal Adoption Journey, meet Bourbon 🐾

Bourbon has a lot to say — and he’s hoping you’ll listen. 🗣️❤️

At around 5-ish years old, this handsome little husky mix has grown past most of those wild husky puppy traits and settled into being a loyal, people-loving companion. On the smaller side at just 35-some pounds, he’s the perfect size for couch cuddles, car rides, and following you everywhere you go.

✨ Bourbon’s favorite things:
• Belly rubs
• Human attention
• Being right by your side
• Telling you all about his day

He does best as an only dog or with female pups, but honestly? His main focus is you. Bourbon is ready for a home where he can soak up affection and finally have the companionship he’s been waiting for.

Every now and then, a couple of amazing dogs stay at Saving Grace a bit longer than others, and that is the case with Erin and Nitro. These two are so enthusiastic when they meet new folks that that it may just be that they don't "present" well when potential adopters meet them. Whatever the reason, they have become huge favorites with the volunteers who get to work with them each week, because, well, we get to see them as they truly are--and they are both pretty amazing! Be sure to read their bios on our website (link below) to get bit more info about them, and come meet one or both! They'll overwhelm you with love and affection, but know that behind that enthusiasm is two personalities that can settle down, have some nice house manners already, and are just terrific dogs! Come meet either of these precious pups with an adoption request!

💛 Meet Tonks — one of our current medical cases 💛

Tonks has been with us for a week and has already become a favorite among our volunteers. This gentle, easygoing girl is heartworm negative and will need bilateral cherry eye repair. She will also be spayed before heading to a medical foster home to recover, and will return to the Farm once she has healed and will then be ready to meet her new family.

Winner of Best Host Write-ups!
A standout report every week for a gal with ideal behavior, so much love to give and only a request for a tennis ball or two. She is more than able to fill your heart as the only dog in the home. Read for yourself!

"This was my second time hosting Mone, and it was so fun seeing even more of her sweet, playful personality come out. I even got a glimpse of her sassier side when she started using tiny barks and pawing when I failed to deliver exactly what she wanted, when she wanted. 😂

🎾 She’s famous for her love of tennis balls and fetch (outside or from the couch, doesn’t matter to her). We discovered she also loves fluffy toys - digging them all out, carrying them around, squeaking them, playing tug, or teasing you with a game of keep away. She also loved learning puzzles, mostly because anything involving treats is A+ in her book.

🦴 Wonderful (and so cute!) with basic obedience - sit, lay down, touch. We also practiced stay/come and waiting for the cue to eat, and she did great! Very treat motivated.

🏠 Fully housebroken and respectful of anything she’s not meant to get into - but happily makes herself at home where allowed!

💤 Great with a crate, but would be just as good with a bed, if you let her!

🚙 Perfect car companion. Jumps right in and sticks her nose out the window to enjoy the ride.

🐕‍🦺 Good on leash. She does pull a bit when excited, but with guidance, she’ll master it in no time. She can fixate on squirrels (doesn’t chase), and will stop to watch passing dogs/people, but can easily be redirected with a quick “let’s go.”

🐶 She did get a bit nervous when neighbor dogs came up to the fence hot, but she disengaged easily with direction. I think she’d be fine with proper introduction in calmer circumstances.

👨‍🦳When my parents came to visit, she barked at first at the car in the driveway (which I personally appreciate). But as soon as they were inside, she was so excited and quick to deem them her new playmates.

She’s such a sweet, gentle, playful girl and deserves the most wonderful home and forever family!"
