Boxers and Buddies, part of the Boxer Rescue Fund, is a non-profit dog rescue located in Northern Nevada and serving Nevada and Northern California.Boxer Rescue is a nonprofit organization founded in 2005. Boxers and Buddies provides a safe, humane sanctuary for abandoned Boxers and other breeds who are waiting to be adopted. Our entire organization is run by a dedicated team of volunteers. Our g

roup works for the love of the breed and to see dogs find homes. Our available dogs come from local shelters, from the streets or from owners who turn them in. We are always filled to capacity with scared, confused and very stressed out dogs. They are with us because B&B is their last hope of finding a new life. We are their temporary haven until they are adopted into a loving permanent home. Before they can be adopted, each dog is evaluated for temperament, must be sterilized, microchipped and their shots are updated. B&B has a training program for those dogs who need rehabilitation or have behaviors which need to be modified. B&B stands apart from other rescues by rescuing any Boxer, regardless of age or health. We feel that they are all worthy of a real chance at life. This policy means that we are subject to frequent and expensive veterinarian costs. Medical expenses are only one of the major cost B&B has to pay each year. The cost are endless: food, mortgage, utilities, insurance, shelter fee, and the costs go on and on. Saving lives is not cheap but someone has to do it! It takes over $250,000 each year to keep B&B open. We are constantly seeking funds and support. We need your help. We depend on our donors and our volunteers to keep B&B open to any Boxer in need. We appreciate your compassion by including a rescue Boxer into your life. 🚨 From Euthanasia List to Second Chance 🚨

At just 9 months old and 60 pounds, Darth Malinois was out of time. He was scheduled to be euthanized when a dedicated volunteer stepped up and opened their home to him.

Like most young Belgian Malinois, Darth is intelligent, energetic, athletic, and always looking for a job to do. Malinois are known for their incredible drive, loyalty, and trainability. They're not couch potatoes. They thrive when given structure, training, and opportunities to use their minds. For the right person, they are one of the most rewarding breeds to own.
The best part? Darth is proving every day just how special he is.

After only 14 days in foster care, he has already made tremendous progress. He's learning routines, responding well to guidance, and showing just how quickly he can learn when given consistency and kindness. Behind that busy Malinois brain is a dog who wants nothing more than to bond with his people and be part of a family.

Darth gets along well with other dogs and is currently being fostered in a home with children. While he hasn't been tested with cats, we believe he could do well with dog-savvy cats given proper introductions and management.

What Darth needs now is someone willing to continue investing in him. In return, you'll get a loyal adventure partner, a devoted companion, and a dog whose gratitude is impossible to miss. Darth is neutered, up-to-date with age appropriate vaccinations, and micro-chipped.

Hi friends, It's me, Kahlua.

Yesterday, I went to Reno Riverfest hoping it might be the day I found my forever family. I got a nice bath, put on my best manners, and showed everyone what a sweet boy I am.
But when the day was over, not a single application was submitted for me.

I won't lie... that hurt a little.

I know I'm a big guy. At 80 pounds, I'm not exactly a purse dog. I also know that sometimes I get excited and pull on my leash. I'm working hard on that, and my people say I'm getting better every day.

What I wish people knew is that behind these big paws is a big heart. I'm only 1 year and 4 months old, and I have so much life, love, and adventure ahead of me. I love people, I love being part of a family, and I really just want someone to call my own.

My foster family tells me all the time what a good boy I am. They give me a comfy place to sleep, lots of love, and remind me every day that I'm safe. They also keep telling me that my perfect family is out there somewhere. I sure hope they're right, because I'd really like to meet them.

My rescue thinks I'm a German Shepherd/American Bulldog mix, which means I've got the loyalty of a best friend and the enthusiasm of a dog who thinks every day is the best day ever.

And while I may be 80 pounds, I firmly believe I am lap dog sized. Nobody has convinced me otherwise.

So if you've been waiting for a sign, this is it. I'm ready to be your best friend, your adventure buddy, your couch companion, and your biggest fan.

When we got the call about Artoo Dogtoo, we knew time was running out. This sweet boy was facing euthanasia, and we were incredibly fortunate to find the perfect foster at the very last moment. Because one person said "yes," Artoo was given a second chance.

What started as a temporary stop quickly turned into something more. He settled in, made himself right at home, and showed everyone exactly what a special dog he is. Last week, his foster made it official and decided they couldn't imagine life without him.

Congratulations to Artoo Dogtoo, now Sampson, and his forever family! We love a foster fail, especially when it means a dog who was out of time gets the happy ending he always deserved.

Congratulations to Kaida, Sizzle and Spinda! ❤️

Sizzle and Kaida were both rescued from euthanasia and have now found the loving families they deserve. Stories like theirs are only possible because of the incredible fosters who open their homes and hearts, giving dogs a safe place to land while they wait for their perfect match.

And sweet Spinda is the first of her litter to be adopted! We couldn't be happier for this lucky girl as she begins her next adventure.

Thank you to our fosters, volunteers, adopters, and supporters for helping make these happy endings possible. Every adoption creates space for us to save another dog in need.

This handsome boy has a big heart, a goofy personality, and loves making new friends. Kahlua is social, playful, and does great with other dogs — he’s respectful of boundaries and loves being part of the fun. Toys, playtime, adventures… he’s all in.

Like many dogs, Kahlua can be a little protective of his favorite toys at times, but he communicates well and continues to thrive with guidance and structure.

❤️ STILL WAITING: ADOPT ANGELA ❤️

Angela is still searching for the family she deserves. This sweet, sensitive 1-year-old Doberman has been decompressing in foster care and slowly starting to let her personality shine. While she can be timid at first, Angela has such a gentle soul and a quiet sweetness that makes you root for her immediately.

She gets along well with other dogs, has done well with cats, is potty trained, and already knows “sit” — especially when treats are involved. 😄 Angela is still building confidence and working on crate training, so she’ll do best with a patient family willing to give her time, consistency, and kindness as she continues to adjust.

Dogs like Angela are truly special. Watching a shy dog learn to trust, feel safe, and blossom into themselves is one of the most rewarding things. We just know she’s going to be an incredible companion for the right person.

Angela doesn’t need perfection — she just needs someone willing to believe in her. ❤️
