🚛🐴 Professionally hauling your horse and training your horse to haul are two different things.

That’s kind of an interesting thought, and please allow me to explain.

When your horse rides with us, my goal isn’t to train them to travel the way I personally like them to travel. My goal is to get them from Point A to Point B safely, comfortably, and with as little stress as possible.

Now, there are certain safety standards that I won’t bend on, like putting a loose stallion next to a mare…this ain’t a mobile breeding shed!!!

But outside of safety, I try to be adaptive.

Maybe I think a horse will prefer hay in a hay net, but after watching the cameras I realize they’d rather eat it off the floor. Maybe a youngster turns that hay into a giant mess, so I put it back in a bag and suddenly they’re happy. Maybe I hang a water bucket where I think it should go, then notice the horse prefers standing somewhere else in the stall.

Every horse is an individual.

The longer I do this, the more I’ve learned that good hauling isn’t about forcing every horse into the same routine. It’s about observing, adapting, and making adjustments that help that particular horse travel well.

When you haul your own horse, train them the way you want them to haul.

When I haul your horse, I’ll do my best to adapt to what helps your horse travel comfortably while still maintaining the safety standards that protect everyone involved.

At the end of the day, don’t just load a horse, shut the door, and hope for the best.

Pay attention.

The goal is to open that trailer door at the destination and unload a horse that had its needs met while out on the Fury Road. The goal is you feeling comfortable and confident that Furiosa and I have got your horse taken care of.

Box Stall vs. Tie Stall — What We Look At When Transporting Horses

One of the most common questions we get is:
“Should my horse travel in a box stall or a tie stall?”

The answer depends on three major things:
• Distance
• Horse personality/comfort
• Training level

For longer trips (especially 700+ miles or overnight hauls), I prefer a box stall because it gives the horse room to reposition, balance, and travel more comfortably.

That said, more room is not always better.

Some horses actually travel better in a tie stall — especially on winding mountain roads or if they tend to get overly playful or anxious with too much space. I once hauled a cutter that kept trying to “work” passing cars like cattle. The tie stall ended up being the safer option for him.

Training level matters too.

Horses traveling with us need to know how to tie safely, but young horses like weanlings or yearlings often do better in a box stall where they can learn balance and confidence during travel without being tied.

At the end of the day, there’s no universal answer.

Every horse, every trip, and every situation is different — and the best setup is the one that keeps the horse safest and most comfortable throughout the journey.

If you ever have questions about what setup may work best for your horse, we’re always happy to talk through the options.

We had a wonderful family show down at the CNDC May Dressage Derby. Erica rode, Amy braided, Maria worked on her photography skills, and Furiosa and I hauled everyone there in style. 🤘🏽🐴

Now the show clothes are packed away and it’s time for Furiosa and I to become full-time Road Warriors again out on Fury Road.

Big Announcement!!! 🐾

We have been incredibly blessed by wonderful clients and our equine community to be covering lots of miles with amazing horses. Due to high demand and full bookings…we have officially hired our first employee!!!

I’d like to introduce…FURIOSA!!!! 🌭😂

Unfortunately, the IRS refuses to let me write off a truck pup as a business expense. So instead, Furiosa will be joining Ridgeview as our official Client Relations Coordinator.

Her responsibilities include:
• Cute puppy kisses
• Moral support on long hauls
• Supervising water breaks
• Maintaining a very aggressive “pet me immediately” company culture

Our Transport Agreement will now reflect updated payment terms including Dutch Bros Pup Cups and premium puppy pampering 😂

Ever since I started driving professionally, I always wanted a little road companion. Previous companies I worked for had strict no animal/passenger policies and honestly…it gets lonely out on the road sometimes.

When we launched Ridgeview Equine Transport, I told Erica nonstop that someday I wanted my own little truck buddy. I’ve wanted a we**ie dog forever, and thanks to that dream finally happened.

They were absolutely amazing to work with, and Furiosa has already been loved and cared for so well from the very beginning. She is already my little best friend ❤️

Me and my ❤️ pup look forward to delivering your ❤️ horse!

Why is communication such a big deal to us?

One thing I’m genuinely proud of at Ridgeview Equine Transport is the level of communication we keep before and during your horse’s trip.

From confirming we’re en route for pickup to check-ins while your horse is in transit — I never want an owner to feel like their horse disappears into a black hole once that trailer door shuts.

As one of my favorite movies would say:
“Captain Marko Ramius… engage the silent drive.” 😂…if you know you know…but come on you have to know!!! 5 points for Grifindor if you can name that movie…

Yeah… we don’t do that.

These horses aren’t Amazon packages with a tracking number and a “good luck.” They’re living, breathing, emotional animals with living, breathing, emotional owners attached to them.

And while we’re completely confident your horse is receiving excellent care during transport… you deserve to feel confident too.

That’s why we send updates, pictures, check-ins, and honest communication throughout the trip — the good, the bad, and the occasionally hilarious.

You’ll probably get texts about your horse:
• hanging their nose out the window judging traffic
• dunking hay into the water bucket like a toddler making soup
• or staring at passing semis like it’s the greatest event of their life

We want owners to feel like they’re riding shotgun with us during the trip — not sitting at home wondering what’s happening.

So thank you for trusting us with your horse.
We’ll keep you updated every mile of the way.

Great insight into the “he just came up lame this morning” syndrome.

Great insight into the “he just came up lame this morning” syndrome.

𝙈𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙪𝙥 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙚𝙚-𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙜𝙚𝙙 𝙡𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩. 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙧 𝙗𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢.

What inflammation actually can look like BEFORE your horse goes lame…

Subtle behavior changes
Pinning ears during saddling
Stepping off turns
Swapping leads
Losing rate or feeling a little more “strung out”
Harder to warm up
Short stepping or not evenly moving side to side

These are just a few things you may notice before you may notice a specific area or pin point an exact “lameness” — it’s always best to stay ahead of possible lameness or issues to one ensure the best outcome possible, but to also ensure your horse doesn’t form bad habits from having to do their job sore.

Long term, you will be money ahead by addressing issues sooner rather than later — your horses will thank you!
