82 - yes EIGHTY-TWO - IS THE NUMBER OF UNWANTED PUPPIES Pet Adoptions of Cuero has had to turn away this week. Caller after caller after caller has 6 pups, 3 pups, 11 pups, 4 pups etc. that they 'DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH". Every call starts with "I have called every shelter/rescue in the state and no one has any openings" - we are at PUPPY CRISIS times 10! Please spread the word to the general public - there is no way out of this overwhelming unwanted pet situation. You have a pet, you have an un-FIXED pet? Then you are going to add to this sad sickening situation. Pet Adoptions of Cuero currently has 15 that are bona fide "puppies" in our inventory but we also have 25 teen, adult and senior dogs that need and want forever homes. Besides all the "puppy calls" we have dozens and dozens of "I don't have time for my pet anymore" - that we have had for 4 or more years!!!! We have "adoption" in the name of our organization but it appears we have become just a "resident" hall for some beautiful loving pets that folks have discarded like trash. We need adopters and fosters and anyone who wants to step up and offer one or two of our fur babes a second loving chance. Please share this post and maybe come by and see one or two of our PAOC cuties that will tug at your heartstrings - and know that you can give it a real forever home. We stay open 7 days a week so we are ready when you are to visit. Many of you know, but for those that don’t, we had a tremendous loss in our family so I have been a little slower getting back to everyone. We lost my beloved grandmother (Janet Sparkman), who was everything to all of us. Mary Anne, who works with me and most of you guys know that she is my mother, this was her mother. It was something not expected, so we have all been taking it really hard. Her service will be on May 30, so I will not be open on that day. For all of those that have reached out with your prayers, cards, and showed us so much love, I can’t tell you thank you enough.  I’m sorry that I did not respond to everybody right away, but it was just too hard to talk. I always say that my clients are more like family. That is exactly why I say you’re a part of the “Wags!” family. In this business, you guys have shared so much with me about your lives, and so many of you know so much about mine. This is more than just a business. We are truly family. You guys are amazing, and I appreciate all of your love. With her passing, I have been fortunate enough to inherit her little Shih Tzu, Tater. If he’s at the office when you come over, you can meet him.

Good evening. Just letting everybody know that we have a ton of dogs in our care until Sunday, and a huge portion of them are medical. I will not be returning any messages, emails, or phone calls until Monday. I’m trying to stay focused on all of these dogs because I’m working alone. The incoming rain is going to make matters worse. Good morning. A couple of announcements I want to make. Since the storm hit on Friday, our landline has such excessive static in it, I cannot hear any messages left on the answering machine. On my recording, we also give my cell phone number. It is best to use that number by texting me first, or leaving a voicemail. AT&T is working on the problem.
For Wednesday, we will technically be closed. However, if there’s anyone that has an emergency, or needs to drop off or pick up, call my cell phone and I will see if there is something that can be arranged to help you out.
(My cell phone is on the answering machine, posted outside our front door, and it’s listed on our page. I will list it again for those of you that may need it. 361-894-1018)

Hey, guys. Just a little friendly reminder since summer is coming up. We get pretty busy, and it’s really hard to do any additional dishes. Remember, we always welcome you to bring fresh or homemade food, but please remember to put it in disposable dishes or baggies. We just don’t have the time to do extra dishes, on top of all the other bowls and dishes that we are washing. The other option is to bring one big container that we can scoop out of. We had 26 dogs this weekend and we have a lot of babies that are eating fresh food, so that’s a lot of extra dishes I’ve been washing. Plus, I just don’t want to run the risk of forgetting who gets what and remembering to pack them back in your stuff.
You can still bring your own dog bowls if you would like, but please remember, no glass! We do have all options of bowls at our facility that you are welcome to use, though.
