Our Story

The Texas Zoo is a 501(c)3 nonprofit zoo, striving to connect people with wildlife from Texas and beyond and be the leading resource for environmental education in Victoria and the surrounding Coastal Bend region. Through authentic learning experiences for broad audiences, The Texas Zoo fosters stewardship and conservation of the natural world.

The Texas Zoo is home to over 100 species of animals, with some native to Texas while others can only be found in remote, exotic locations around the world. A large portion of The Texas Zoo’s collection is comprised of rescue animals that could not be returned to the wild, came from owners that could no longer provide the required care, or even from a future that lead them to the meat market.

The Texas Zoo’s mission is to CONNECT the public to wildlife. Giving them the opportunity to LEARN the importance these animals serve to the environment and humans alike. Inspiring them to PROTECT our animal’s wild counterparts in their native habitat.
