Kentucky Equine Research had a big week at the Equine Science Society Symposium, as our researchers delivered nine presentations showcasing our ongoing research and innovation!

One highlight of the week included the selection of Dr. Joe Pagan as a Fellow of the Equine Science Society for his distinguished service to the horse industry and to the Equine Science Society. Additionally, Ryon Springer won the graduate student oral presentation competition in the nutrition division.

Joe Pagan, Ph.D., and Ryon Springer, M.S., represented Kentucky Equine Research at the Australasian Equine Science Symposium held earlier this week in Melbourne. They presented research on several topics, including cooling methods after exercise, factors that affect body size and skeletal disease in foals, and the role of omega-3 and omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids in equine nutrition. Peter Huntington, B.V.Sc., M.A.C.V.Sc., served as the chair of the equine nutrition section of the conference.
