Little stinkers were trapped inside the awesome rainbow bird house feeder nest & unable to graduate to the next level. Genius safe spot to build a nest but not so terrific when it’s eviction time! Their mama has been encouraging them and enticing them from the outside with food and beautiful vocals. Unfortunately, the roof on the birdhouse was not allowing them to help up high enough or to get on a ledge without hitting the ceiling and falling back down. Overnight two of the five babies passed and their momma stayed vigilant encouraging the others to come out. I had moved them to an upgraded, actual nesting box and today they are starting to do some 1st flights with their mama! It actually really sweet watching momma so excited and tending to all of them! Wish them luck! 🪺🍀🐦‍⬛

King August has officially made it to the homestretch of his adoption journey. After receiving over 200 applications, things have now been narrowed down to three potential happily-ever-after homes for this majestic orange ruler. Everyone who applied should have heard back from me by now — if not, please be sure to check your spam folder just in case.

I’m incredibly grateful to have had a little grace time to carefully work through applications before August’s upcoming dental appointment on June 8. I anticipate we will have everything buttoned up shortly after his veterinary visit, and this fluffy king will soon be on his way to the next chapter of his spoiled, adored life. 🧡👑

Little Miss Bubblegum Lips had a huge day today! She got her baby booster vaccines, deworming and ...... her wee horns disbudded (aka burned off). She was sedated and she is doing very well post-op, as you can see. Tomorrow this little one will move in with the big herd, her new pack! A lot of people will ask about the horn removal so here's what I have to say about it. Domesticated goats can either keep their horns or have them burned down to prevent them from growing as they grow up. Horns have a purpose in the wild but in a herd, it can pose dangers. Goats with horns in herds with debudded/disbudded goats can pose a danger to the ones without - it's not an even playing field if you will. Also, horns can easily get caught in or on things like fencing, chains, locks, gates, etc etc which can severely injure or even kill them via trauma. Additionally, horns can get locked between two goats which can have the same sad end result. I would encourage anyone who is considering goats to do thorough research to decide what is best for your enclosure and future herd, but, if you do decide to disbud them - PLEASE do it sooner than later. The older they get the harder and less successful the procedure is which can leave goats with 1 or 2 scurs. Scurs are abnormal regrowth that can be all sorts of problematic including the concerns I mentioned above, but also they can literally grow into the goats eyes or other places on their heads.

Now that that is out of the way.... look at our 12 pound sweetie bean resting post DVM day! She is such a snuggle bug & I am going to miss her cute little kissable lips! The total for our vet bill today which includes a total of 7 animals is $1517! This doesn't include upcoming vetting for August in June. If you would be oh-so-kind and help donate you can make one right here on this very post OR via our website in various ways at www.PandaPawsRescue.org! Rescue is expensive but a fully, properly vetted animal is PRICELESS!

I wanted to sincerely thank every single person who applied for August. The response has honestly been overwhelming in the best possible way, and it has been incredibly heartwarming reading through so many thoughtful applications from people wanting to give this majestic orange menace the perfect happily ever after. After reviewing over 200 applications, I have narrowed things down significantly and will continue carefully fine-combing through potential matches over the coming days.

This process is always so extremely important to me because I truly want to find the absolute best fit for August’s unique personality and needs — not rush through it simply because of volume. As you can clearly see here, August firmly believes he should remain the center of attention at all times, especially during peaceful reading sessions or basically any time you sit down, and he intends to keep those standards high for his future staff. 📚👑🧡

Seven years ago, I surprised a little girl on her 4th birthday… and today, I got to celebrate her 11th. 🥹💕

A lot of longtime supporters of my TV show and Panda Paws Rescue may remember this story. When Ava was just 3 years old, she spotted my vehicle in downtown Washougal and was SO excited to meet me. She ran up to the car absolutely beside herself with excitement… only to discover the only people inside were two of my beloved cameramen, Baby Rhino and Maui. 😂

This poor sweet girl was absolutely shattered that it wasn’t actually *Amanda* in the car, and she burst into tears. Her mama scooped her up while she sobbed into her shoulder, and later I was sent a photo of them walking away. Honestly, it broke my heart. It broke my camera crews hearts too, as they both are dads and understood the magnitude of the moment.

But thanks to technology, amazing supporters, and a little determination, I tracked her family down and secretly showed up at her house for her 4th birthday surprise that was literally soon after the meltdown. Not only was she shocked beyond belief, but this precious child had a full Panda Paws Rescue themed birthday cake. Level one MILLION superfan status. 🐾🎂

Since then, I’ve stayed close with their family, and months ago Ava invited me to come have lunch with her at school for her 11th birthday. So today I picked up one of her favorite meals and had a blast hanging out with her and her sweet group of friends.

Ava is every bit as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. She has one of those genuinely rare hearts. She’s thoughtful, compassionate, kind, and the type of friend who makes everyone around her feel included and cared about.

Watching this tiny little superfan grow into such an incredible young lady has been really special.

Please help me wish Ava the happiest 11th birthday ever!! 🎉💖

Due to an absolutely overwhelming amount of applications, August is no longer accepting new prospects at this time. Apparently the giant emotionally codependent floof goblin with the face of a woodland prince and the personality of a retired mob boss was in extremely high demand. We are beyond grateful for the incredible interest and thoughtful applicants. If you are amongst the applicants, your patience is much appreciated while I carefully get through each and every one.

UPDATE: APPLICATIONS ARE NOW/CURRENTLY CLOSED.

Meet handsome August — a five-year-old jumbo Maine C**n with a majestic mane, a giant fluffy tail, and the personality of an emotionally codependent Victorian prince trapped in a cat’s body. He is neutered, ridiculously gorgeous, hilariously dramatic, and currently accepting future applications for a home worthy of his royal expectations.

August is not your stereotypical “independent cat.” In fact, he would personally like to file a complaint against emotional distance altogether. He thrives on attention and companionship and firmly believes your primary purpose in life is to admire him, speak to him, and revolve your daily schedule around his magnificent existence. If ignored, August will simply begin launching objects off counters one by one until proper worship resumes. Decorative items? Gone. Water cups? Absolutely airborne. Your sense of peace? Negotiable. No valuable object is truly safe when this lovable menace feels emotionally neglected.

Despite his chaos goblin tendencies, August is an enormous sweetheart. He has a deep, manly Maine C**n voice and loves to “talk” to his people throughout the day. He is affectionate, snuggly, and incredibly loving. While he does not enjoy being carried around, he is a world-class cuddle bug who wants to curl up beside his humans and be involved in absolutely everything they do.

Because of his luxurious long coat, August will need a home committed to regular grooming and maintenance to keep him comfortable and handsome. He enjoys supervised backyard time but is primarily an indoor cat and should remain safely supervised outdoors only.

August has lived successfully with another male cat, two small male dogs, and has been around toddlers. Ideally, he would love a home with other respectful animals for companionship — playful but not dominant or pushy personalities. August is social and playful himself, but sensitive to being bullied.

His dream home would be with someone who is home often and genuinely wants a highly interactive, emotionally attached companion cat rather than a distant, low-maintenance pet. August is the kind of cat who becomes part roommate, part weighted blanket, part life supervisor, and part tiny furry dictator.

If you’re looking for a giant, affectionate, hilarious, slightly unhinged snuggle monster who will love you deeply while simultaneously pushing your belongings onto the floor for sport, August may just be your soulmate.

Applications are CLOSED.

New rescues! Kind of... I saved this adult and the teeny juvenile in the pot from a cat. Snakes are such an important part of the ecosystem! Both snakes will be alright thanks to a lil 10% Betadine (povidone-iodine) solution diluted with water (1 part Betadine to 9 parts water). They can typically survive and thrive with small puncture wounds, even from dirty cat mouths, thankfully. The bites are usually at the base of the tail, missing all vital organs typically, because cats are cowardly little lions and would never go for the face because they would learn really quickly that these are "nope noodles" and not to be messed with! My granddaughter is my lil helper this spring with these critters and it is so sweet watching her learn and have so much compassion for all living 'things'!
