August is National Immunization Awareness Month! 🩺💉

One important vaccine we recommend for many dogs is the Leptospirosis (Lepto) vaccine. 💉

Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that can affect both pets and people. It’s spread through the urine of infected wildlife, and dogs can be exposed just by sniffing or drinking from contaminated water or soil—even in your own backyard. 🦝💧🐀

Vaccination is one of the best ways to protect your pup from this serious illness. If your dog spends time outdoors, visits parks, or even has a curious nose for puddles, talk to us about whether the Lepto vaccine is right for them.🐕💓

🐾 Treat Your Pets Right – With Safe Snacks! 🦴🍎

We all love spoiling our pets, and you don’t need fancy treats to do it! Plenty of pet-safe snacks can be found right in your own kitchen:

✅ Dogs: Carrot sticks, apple slices (no seeds!), blueberries, plain cooked chicken, or frozen green beans
✅ Cats: Small bits of scrambled egg, plain cooked chicken, or a lick of plain canned pumpkin

🚫 Skip these: Grapes, raisins, chocolate, onions, garlic, xylitol (found in sugar-free items), and heavily seasoned foods

Next time those puppy-dog eyes are begging, check your fridge first—you might already have the perfect treat! When in doubt, ask your vet before trying something new. 💚🐶🐱

🐾 Got a new puppy at home? Let’s talk socialization — safely! 🐶✨

Early socialization is so important for raising a confident, well-behaved dog — but it’s also crucial to keep your puppy protected while they’re still building immunity through vaccines. 💉

Here are some safe socialization tips:

🦴 Start Small at Home – Expose your pup to new sounds (vacuums, doorbells, music), surfaces, and gentle handling.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Meet Friendly People – Invite friends over to interact calmly with your puppy in a safe environment.
🐕 Puppy Playdates – Only introduce your puppy to healthy, vaccinated dogs in a clean space.
🚗 Go for Car Rides – Your pup can still see the world from the safety of your car!
🧸 Use Toys & Treats – Make every new experience positive and fun with rewards.

⚠️ Until your pup has completed their core vaccines, avoid dog parks, pet stores, or places where unvaccinated dogs may have been.

Socializing safely now means a happier, healthier, and more confident adult dog later! 🐾💛

Have questions about your puppy's vaccine schedule or socialization plan? Give us a call — we’re happy to help!
