Summer heat is here, and while we love the sunshine, it can be dangerous for our furry friends. At Mt. View, we want to help you keep your pets cool, safe, and happy all season long! 🐶🐱🌴

🔥 Hot Weather Pet Safety Tips:
🐾 Keep walks short & early/late in the day
💧 Always provide fresh, cool water
🚗 Never leave pets in parked cars (even for a minute!)
🏖️ Watch for signs of heatstroke: excessive panting, drooling, weakness, or vomiting
☀ Be cautious of hot pavement and sand on your pets paws

If your pet shows any signs of overheating, contact a local ER immediately! Let’s make this a safe, tail-wagging summer for all. 🐕🌞

🐾 Meet Our New Veterinarian! 🐾

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Mocca to the Mt. View family! 🎉

“My name is Dr. Isabel Mocca, and I recently graduated from WSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine with my DVM. I have been passionate about animal wellbeing for the last 10 years after growing up and being surrounded by many animals that impacted me one way or another. My favorite part of working in veterinary medicine is getting to create a sense of teamwork with my clients when comes to the care of their pets. The ability to further the human-animal bond between owner and pet through animal healthcare is a huge reason of why I love what I do. When I'm not practicing veterinary medicine, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé Zach, my 9-year-old Australian kelpie Kilo and my lab puppy Nova. My hobbies include cooking, painting, snowboarding, and travelling to new places. I am most excited to join the Mountain View family because of their incredibly collaborative approach to medicine and their welcoming culture. I am so thrilled to begin this journey!”

In a wonderful turn of events I am so excited to share that Dr. Patete will be staying on at Mountain View for a bit longer 😄! As long as her family continues to improve and do well she will be staying on as a DVM at Mountain View! Her schedule has changed slightly to accommodate her new needs. This being said she may not be as available as she was in past, but plans on staying and continuing to care for her amazing patients who she loves so much 🥰.

🌊🐾 Beware of Harmful Algae Blooms! 🐾🌊

As temps rise, toxic algae can appear in lakes and ponds—and it’s dangerous for pets! Just a sip or swim can cause vomiting, seizures, or worse. 💔

🚫 Avoid water that’s green, scummy, or smells bad.
🛁 Rinse your pet off if they’ve been in questionable water.
📞 Go to a pet ER immediately if you suspect exposure!

🐾 May is Arthritis Awareness Month! 🐾

Did you know 1 in 5 adult dogs and an estimated 60% of cats over age 6 show signs of osteoarthritis (OA)? This painful, progressive joint disease often goes unnoticed because our pets can’t tell us what hurts — but they do show us in subtle ways. 🧐

👀 Take a look at theses OA Pain Checklists in the images below and see if your pet may be showing signs of arthritis. If your pet is showing any of these signs speak with your veterinarian to create a management plan! Starting early can help delay the progression of this disease and give your pets a more comfortable longer life. 😊

Miss Sophie was sweet as a peach for her spay and hernia repair procedure 🍑! Her parents opted for a surgery suite instead of a cone for her recovery. These are wonderful options for keeping pets from licking and messing with incision sites ☺️. Plus they are much less bulky than the cones. Bonus that they come in so many fun colors and patterns! 🐾🥰

Miss Dottie is a 5 month old Pomeranian. 💜 She came in for her vaccine booster so she could be protected and get to play outside fear free! 🐾

Even if pups are only coming in for a quick appointment like this, we try to make as positive an experience as possible. This will help reduce anxiety and stress for future visits! Plus it is fun for staff too 🥰
