🍁 Happy Thanksgiving 🍁
We are deeply thankful for your support. As many prepare for Thanksgiving, we would like to take a moment to express our heartfelt appreciation for your generosity. Your selflessness inspires us daily, and we are grateful for your contributions. Without your support, we would be unable to provide for our fosters, purchase food and medications, facilitate veterinary care, or find them forever homes. We are forever grateful for your kindness. We wish you a joyous Thanksgiving with your loved ones, furry friends, and family.

With much love from Judy, our volunteers, and all of our current Droopy Fosters:
🐾❤️Freddie, Winston, Sweetie, George, Teddy, Paige, Bob, Levi, Libby, Kahlúa, Callie, and Lucy (not a foster).❤️🐾

Slobberfest this year was a wonderful event!
The best part is seeing so many old and new friends getting together to help us raise funds for the Basset hound breed we all adore. This year I also saw the stress on our core group of volunteers, myself included.
I love Droopy Rescue and all the volunteers that have given so much time to keep DBHR able to help Bassets in need. I can’t imagine not being able to say yes to helping senior hounds and giving them a good life for whatever time they have. I love helping hounds of any age find the perfect forever home… Being able to give hounds with health issues the medical care they need. Teaching scared or abused hounds about love. That is my purpose.
But I realize a break to regroup and organize is needed to make Slobberfest the fun event it has always been. We, like most volunteer groups out there, need time to get more people who can help with pre-Slobberfest work. The time it takes to put together and plan all that goes into Slobberfest is more than you can imagine.
For the past 26 years we have started planning for the next Slobberfest while we are packing up from the last. And it seems the year flies by too fast to update our mailing lists along with volunteer, adoptions, Droopy website and the lists of past and present companies/individuals that donate to Droopy. Time is needed just to stop and look at past events and see what we can change and time is needed to list what help we need and how to do what is needed. This is a short list of things that need to be redone, so we can make the planning of Slobberfest easier (hopefully).
So for this coming year we are going to focus on some other types of fundraising that will give us the time needed to catch up, while continuing to care for the Bassets that need us.
There will not be a Slobberfest in 2026.
We are very grateful to all of you who raise money for Droopy and those of you who come and spend the day with us on Slobberfest to keep the bassets in our care fed and healthy, and we hope you will continue to support us!
Mark your calendars- Slobberfest will be back on
July 10, 2027!
God bless,
Judy and the DBHR pack

Last year the service we used to make Slobberfest announcements, closed and deleted our mailing list ...UGH.*

The 26th Slobberfest was despite the hot weather an amazing success!
Thanks to all the wonderful volunteers working hard all-day Friday and Saturday to turn the large dog yard into a festival to remember. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to each and every one of you. Slobberfest would never happen without you! And for all who came out to support Droopy- thank you so much! The funds we raised help us continue to care for the hounds in our program now and those that will need our help in the months to come.
I wanted to post tonight before any more time passed. This is the first year I took quick photos of the grounds during Slobberfest because it always amazes me how different the property looks Slobberfest weekend. Most years I have only a vague memory of the day, and by Saturday night most of the tents are down, and Sunday you can hardly tell Slobberfest had over 400 people wandering the property, playing games, entering the big tent basset games, buying raffle tickets, checking out the vendors, enjoying the yummy food available and spending time with people who love Bassets. It is truly unbelievable that it all comes together and is then done in 3 days.
Those 3 days are the most intense and physically hard work for our volunteers. Friday started at 8am this year and we were still working on booths till after 8pm. Then Saturday began at 7am for our volunteers, and the last of the volunteers left that night at 11pm. OUR VOLUNTEERS ARE AMAZING!!
AND YOU- our awesome supporters are appreciated more than I can put into words!
Thank you!
Judy at Droopy Central
PS: My quick photos missed the Rainbow bridge, the food booth (on the front porch) and I am sure a lot more ! LOL

We started setting up some of the easy-ups today, thinking there was only a mild rain coming thru. Well, a bit more that came. Thank goodness it was a relitivly short downpour... and only 2 easy-ups turned into origami . Wind took one down and the other heavy rain in the canopy bent the frame. I was able to keep the water from ruining any of the others with my handy broom to dump the water out of the tarps. This isn't my 1st rodeo... lol and doing it during the day is so much better than the years I was out there at 2 am poking the water out of sagging tarps!
All's good and Teri has already made the trip to replace the 2 tarps we lost, she is amazing. Sun is out already and drying up the ground. Fingers crossed for good weather the next 2 days!
And don't worry the foster bassets stayed dry inside getting there beauty sleep to be ready for Saturday. 🤣

SLOBBERFEST TIME!
Actually set up started early... the big game tents were here last Thursday! At 9am. The guys did a great job, as usual 👏. Skip has been non stop mowing and w**d wacking. Teri has been working on the getting the rainbow bridge ready. Mark Burns is here now getting the big tent ready for the games. I just finished the Bassetarian of the Year award and the 2nd and 3rd place special sculptures with our pirate theme 😁
