Pets Fur People Pets Fur People is a no-kill animal rescue in Tyler, Texas that has been rescuing, caring for, and rehoming homeless dogs and cats in East Texas since 1968.

We believe that every dog and cat in our community should have the life it deserves - a warm bed, a full belly, a well cared for body and a loving home.

Today, we are stepping up to help by taking in 5 dogs from Smith County who were part of a group of 38 dogs rescued from a heartbreaking and difficult situation.

The reality is that these dogs have endured far more than they ever should have. While the people involved may have believed they were helping, the conditions these animals were living in tell a different story. Thankfully, the owners chose to surrender the dogs, allowing them to immediately begin receiving the medical care, support, and rescue assistance they desperately need.

Now, we need YOUR help.

Bringing in 5 additional dogs means we urgently need foster homes to make room at our shelter. Fosters are truly the bridge between rescue and forever homes, and right now we cannot do this without our community.

If you have ever considered fostering, now is the time. Even a temporary foster home can save a life and make room for us to continue helping animals in need.

🐾 We are urgently seeking fosters for these dogs.
🐾 Food, supplies, and support will be provided.
🐾 You provide the love, patience, and safe place they deserve.

Our Borrow A Buddy program continues to be a huge success! 🐾❤️

Today, Butterball Boyd got to enjoy a much-needed day out of the shelter, and judging by that smile, we'd say he had a pretty great time!

While all of our dogs benefit from extra love and attention, our larger dogs especially need a break from shelter life. A few hours away can make a world of difference for them...whether it's a car ride, a walk in the park, a pup cup, or simply spending time with someone who cares.

If you've ever thought about helping but aren't ready to foster or adopt, becoming a Buddy is a perfect way to make a dog's day. And who knows? You might find your new best friend along the way.

Butterball Boyd loved his adventure today, and there are plenty more dogs waiting for their turn.

Today we took in Molly, a very pregnant mama dog from Whitehouse Animal Control. Due to her condition, they were unable to transfer her to the shelter they normally work with, and she needed somewhere safe and quiet where she could deliver her puppies peacefully instead of facing an uncertain future.

Molly is incredibly sweet and loving, and despite carrying all those babies, she still somehow has the ability to jump like it’s nobody’s business. 😂

We’re so grateful we could give her a safe place to rest and prepare for her puppies’ arrival. We’ll be posting updates once the pups are delivered — we just wanted to share Molly with everyone and let you know she’s finally safe. ❤️

Moments like this are also an important reminder to spay and neuter your pets whenever possible. It helps prevent overcrowding in shelters and gives dogs like Molly a better chance at a safe, healthy life. 🐾
