Pets Fur People is East Texas' oldest No-Kill shelter, where every animal is safe from euthanasia.

We rely solely on donations to provide a second chance at life for pets, ensuring they find loving homes and receive care for as long as needed. We believe that every dog and cat in our community should have the life it deserves - a warm bed, a full belly, a well cared for body and a loving home.

Say hello to Scooby, the little whirlwind who spun his way into our hearts earlier this year! This goofy guy has kept us smiling from day one — whether he’s twirling around like a whirling dervish or giving you the most dramatic head-tilts when you talk to him, Scooby is guaranteed entertainment and affection all in one adorable package.

Don’t be fooled by his kennel shenanigans — yes, he acts a little wild in there (a true performer), but once he’s out, Scooby is actually a pretty chill dude who loves exploring, hanging out, and just being his silly, lovable self.

Here’s what Scooby is looking for in a forever home:

🐱 Have cats? He’ll need a cat test.
🐶 Have dogs? A meet & greet is required — he loves making new friends!

ADOPTED: Violet Has Found Her Forever Family! ✨

Sweet Violet has officially been adopted by the wonderful Pickles family — and she even has her very own boy to play with! 💕 From the moment they met, it was clear these two were meant to be best friends. You can already tell they’ll be sharing plenty of adventures, cuddles, and giggles together.

Violet will be getting all the love and attention she deserves in her new home, the kind of care and companionship every cat dreams of. We couldn’t be happier for her or for the Pickles family, who have welcomed her with such open hearts.

Congratulations, Violet! 🐾 You’ve found your happily ever after, and we know it’s going to be full of purrs, playtime, and endless love. 💜

Our Story

At The Humane Society's Pets Fur People, we provide an animal sanctuary for cats and dogs while helping them find their forever families.

Over the last 50 years, we have saved thousands of animals through facilitating pet adoptions and teaching responsible pet ownership at our no-kill pet shelter in Tyler, Texas. As a selective admission, life-sustaining animal shelter in Tyler, Texas, our mission is to provide a temporary haven for cats and dogs while helping them find the right home. By committing to these animals and connecting them with caring, loving families, we hope to reduce and ultimately eliminate the practice of euthanasia as an acceptable method of population control.
