Aya Arabians Est in 1965 Breeding and Promotion of the Arabian Sport Horse. For performance or pleasure we breed J We are breeders not horse traders.

A small breeder, established in 1965, Aya Arabians is not new, but not exactly well known. Historically, we have used CMK, CMK Element, and Preservation bloodlines (*Raseyn, Abu Farwa, Aurab, Bay-Abi, Bezatal) and our goal has always been to produce good, old-fashioned saddle horses. Even though the foals are out living in the nursery they still have their daily cuddles!
Their individual personalities, despite being half siblings, are quite entertaining! They both OBVIOUSLY portray traits from their sire, Aya Ab Rodger, but they are both so distinct.
Aya Ab Salvo is an absolute snuggle bug and wants nothing more than to be with people. He tries to follow you out the gate despite mash being in the feed tubs and will pester you into snuggles.
Aya Ab K***a on the other hand....well she is DEFINITELY showing her mare line (Roda)with her protective and loyal disposition. She is practicing her resting mare face on Salvo so he knows that when it's her time to snuggle people, he shall not infringe!

We are extremely excited to watch these two grow!

Aya Tiki Cruz is beginning his trail horse education! Cruz is comfortable leaving the ranch and working (as seen in this video!) in new places! He even had his first trot in the big wide world without making a big deal!

What makes a horse broke? What makes a horse trained? And why are they not the same thing?

I saw a great post by a rising creator asking what the difference was between a well trained horse, and one that wasn’t.

Before we can begin to answer this question, first we must define what a trained horse is.

A trained horse is one that has been taught specific cues and tasks to perform a job. Great examples of this include but are not limited to lead changes, (proper!) neck reining, and half halts.

What so many people think a trained horse is- the point and shoot husband horse or the been there, done that kids pony, are frequently not super well trained. They are what is considered broke. They are the ones that may not take the proper lead, but the kids can hang off of, and play pony games with, and take swimming in the creek in the summer.

As a trainer, our goal is to blend these two ideas. A trained and broke horse. Some horses are going to be more successful at this than others. Part of this is due to breeding, athleticism, disposition, and the handler.

So when I have a client that is wanting me to focus on a specific skill, I take it all the way to the extreme. Below is me oozing off of a client horse, Aya Teddy Mac. His owner asked that I prioritize mounting and dismounting.

In my younger years, I used to hang off the side of all of my horses. This meant that if I ever became unseated, they wouldn’t spook at me coming off. If I became unbalanced and suddenly gripped them in a weird spot, they wouldn’t take off either.

So after listening to my client, I made it a point to practice this. And as you can see, while Teddy is a bit uncertain, he is not panicked. This is why I love what I do, because he stood there and let me be the weird person I am. Your horse is only as prepared as you make them
