We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Brooks Grocery in Tupelo for their generous donation to TLHS in memory of sweet Lucy Davis. Lucy, a beloved rescue who joined the Davis family in 2015, was a cherished and gentle fur baby whose love left a lasting impact. Though her passing was deeply felt, the joyful memories she gave are forever treasured by the ones she loved
Did you know Brooks Grocery’s famous chicken salad is named after Lucy? A beautiful tribute to a beautiful spirit.

Thank you again, Brooks Grocery — we are truly grateful for your kindness and support!🤍💙💛

🚨🚨Due to the recent surge in intakes, our shelter is overflowing. TLHS is asking our community to lend a hand in this critical time. Your support means the world to us and helps us continue caring for our beloved furry friends. As always, we’re incredibly grateful for anything you can give. 🚨🚨
‼️ Urgent need ‼️ We are currently in need of newspapers and puppy pads. Typically we get newspapers from the Journal , however there are times when we run out before we can pickup again. We have about 35-40 dogs in pop up kennels aside from our regular kennels. As always we appreciate our community and all that’s done for TLHS .🐾

Happy Good Friday from our Shelter Family to Yours!
This morning, our amazing team hopped into action bright and early 🐰—making sure all our furry friends were clean 🧼, fed 🍽️, and watered 💧. Once every paw was pampered and every belly full, we took some well-deserved time for egg-stra special team bonding fun!
We kicked things off with a spirited egg hunt 🥚✨ that had everyone laughing, running, and even putting on a friendly competition 🐣. But the fun didn’t stop there!
One of our team challenges involved blindfolds and a rope—everyone started in a circle, holding the rope, then tried (blindfolded!) to form a perfect square 🔲. Let’s just say... the results were creative and full of laughs!
Another favorite? We paired up and shared three things about ourselves that we’d never told our teammates before. From secret talents 🎨 to unexpected stories 📖, it was a heartwarming way to grow closer as a team.
These moments of connection and joy are so important—and we’re grateful for a team that puts in the hard work and lifts each other up with positivity and fun ❤️🌸
Please note: Our shelter is closed today in observance of Good Friday ✝️, but we’ll be back open tomorrow for regular business hours!
Wishing everyone a peaceful, joyful, and love-filled Good Friday!

EDIT POST: We have secured fosters for all 8 puppies. We would like to thank everyone who has stepped up to help and everyone who has reached out. We could not do what we do without the support of our community and the love of our foster families.🐾🥰🙏
‼️Emergency foster needed‼️
These 4 plus 4 more (a litter of 8) are in danger or being dumped or harmed.. We have no available kennels 😭.
We want to help so badly, but with no open kennels we need fosters. Can anybody foster for 2 weeks? We will supply everything needed. Shots, dewormer and everything they need medically will be taken care of before they go in to foster care.
Please call 662-372-4574 for more information.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Did you know that studies show a link between animal abuse and family violence? When children witness harm to an animal, it raises serious concerns about their own safety and emotional well-being. This 2015 survey included heartbreaking testimonies highlighting how children try to protect their pets from harm, often by relocating them to "safe" spaces in their homes. Furthermore, children who have been maltreated or have witnessed violence are more likely to abuse animals themselves. Identifying animal abuse in the home can be the first opportunity not only to save an animal but also to intervene with a family at risk.
