Pets are family, too. That’s why many individuals affected by domestic violence are unwilling to seek safety if they’re not able to bring their pets along.

Unfortunately, that means many of those people end up unhoused, often with their pets in tow. In fact, domestic violence is the #1 cause of homelessness for women.

In recognition of the connection between homelessness and domestic violence, the Safe Havens for Pets directory was expanded earlier this year to include resources for both survivors of domestic violence and those facing housing insecurity—because no matter what challenges people and pets face, everyone deserves a safe haven.

🥰Tomorrow is the last day for our Empty the Shelter Adoption Event. This has been one of our best adoption events this year and we want to say thank you to all those who have adopted. We still have so many amazing animals that are looking for their forever home 🏠. 🐾What better way to describe Bailey aka Lily than to hear it from her foster mom 🐾 Bailey is available for adoption . She is thriving and we know she is going to find the perfect home soon🐾

She is a total snuggle bug. She sleeps in the bed with us every night 🫣🤪
She sleeps right against us. She loves to play with her foster sister and isn’t afraid of her 100 lb grumpy Labrador brother that grumps and growls at her often 🤣
She loves to carry “stuffies” all around the house like a toddler.
She is very smart, knows many words, and is mostly house trained.
She is a very sweet, loving puppy that just wants to be a part of all the family action.
