A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued until 5:45 PM for parts of Oakland, St. Clair, Macomb, and Lapeer counties. Strong winds and small hail are possible.

Another hot day with temps around 90. There is a slight chance of showers ahd maybe a storm later this evening. Not much of the area will see precipitation .

Michigan is on the front lines.
We have confirmed 15 wildfire personnel from Michigan are in Canada fighting the wildfires in Manitoba.
We've been told directly as well that while they're doing everything possible, the fires are too big, too fast, and so remote it's almost impossible to contain some of them.
Michiganders have been on the ground since the 4th of July, but are rotated out so they are fresh and we continue to have people in Michigan for our needs as well.

Another day another air quality alert for smoke. Honestly most people won't be able to tell a difference.

Air Quality Alert through Saturday for the entire state. This is from the smoke from the Canadian wildfires 🔥. Most of us won't notice anything but if you have respiratory issues take it easy today when you are outside.

This is crazy!

Megaflash new world record.
Yeah, you read that correctly.
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has established a new world record for the longest lightning flash. It occurred in October 2017 at a whopping 515 miles extending from a storm in eastern Texas all the way to Kansas City.
It wasn't identified in the original storm study, but was discovered during a re-examination of the storm.
The previous record was also in the United States.
