After more than six rewarding years, A New Leash on Life is closing. We want to thank our foster families, volunteers, donors and of course our adopters. We also need to thank our families for their unwavering support and the sacrifices they made while we pursued our dream. We couldn't have done it without every single one of you. With your help, we were able to save approximately 1000 dogs and cats. We now have a lifetime of heartwarming memories of abused, neglected or unwanted pets becoming cherished members of a family. We feel blessed to have been a part of this worthy endeavor. Thank you!!

We are thrilled beyond belief that Bandit's foster family has decided they just couldn't bear to part with him and have made him a permanent member of their family. Bandit is an awesome dog with a heart of gold. All of us at ANLOL just adore him and his foster family. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect match!! You're finally home, Bandit! Congratulations!!

Sweet Ella. We just don't know what to say to her when she gives us this look. The look that says, "When will my family come for me? Why doesn't anyone want to adopt me?" UPDATE ON ELLA! We thought she was done with her heartworm treatment this week but turns out she still needs the microfilaria (baby heartworms) treatment in a few weeks. The good news is she made it through this last treatment like a champ!

Ella was a happy girl at the vet this morning! She knows she's going to be all better very soon. Ella went in for her last treatment and will be done by tomorrow evening. This will complete her heartworm treatment. Ella is still in search of her forever home. In the meantime, she could really use a more suitable foster home. Preferably one without cats. Darling Ella is still looking for her forever home. She is going in for her final heartworm treatment on Monday and is need of a quiet place to recover. Even better would be a home to call her very own. Ella is a love bug who just wants a comfy place to rest her head and a companion with whom she can shower with the love and devotion that only a dog knows how to give. We just don't understand how we've had Cooper in our care for almost 2 years! Look at that adorable face!! Cooper is super sweet, fun loving and up for anything. He would make a great companion for someone who loves life as much as he does. Isn't anyone out there looking for a sidekick like Cooper?

It was with a heavy heart that we said goodbye to Norman last night. We pulled 9 yr old Norman from the pound knowing he was extremely emaciated and had a large growth hanging from his chin, but soon after we learned that he was also heartworm positive and had cancer of the spleen. The poor old man just had too much to battle. We had Norman for 4 weeks to the day. In that time, he found his way into the heart of his foster family and everyone who met him. Norman spent some of his time hanging out behind the counter at the vet office where his foster mom works. Everyone who walked through the door was instantly taken with Norman's sweet demeanor and wanted to hear his story. Norman was an ambassador for pound animals everywhere. He is proof that no matter what humans put them through, whether it be physical abuse or abuse by neglect, animals have an unrelenting will to forgive, forget and love again. Rest in peace, Norman. You will be missed dearly.

Update on Ella (Polka Dot). We are still in search of a foster/forever home for her while she undergoes heartworm treatment. Ella is a gentle, sweetheart of a dog! We have also learned that she is totally fine with cats! Her interest was simply curiosity. Ella and the kitty in her current foster home get along just fine. We think she okay with other dogs, but can be a bit bossy. That may have a bit to do with her not feeling 100% right now. We wanted to give an update on the sweet Boxer we pulled a couple of weeks ago. Norman came to us emaciated and with a large growth on his chin. We were hoping that all he needed was a little fattening up and some surgery to remove the growth. Turns out this poor guy is also Heartworm positive and possibly has cancer of the spleen. We're not sure what our next step will be until he can gain some more weight. What we do know is that he is as sweet as can be and we're so happy that we pulled him from the pound. No dog deserves to be locked up, especially the sick, weak and old. Norman is currently doing well in his foster home. He's gaining weight and acting more like a happy member of the family everyday!
