From our family to yours: Happy Thanksgiving! May your day be filled with joy and gratitude. Here are some safety tips to keep your pets safe this holiday!
1. โกYou may be using more extension cords than usual, such as for cooking and dรฉcor. Your pets may mistake these for a fun toy! Keep them unplugged when left unattended.โก
2. โจ Be careful with hot surfaces around your pets. It's best to keep your pets out of the kitchen when you're cooking, so you don't end up with an accidental paw or nose in your dish. ๐ฝ Pets often care more about eating delicious food than if the food is burning them. ๐ฅต So, make sure that hot pots or dishes are out of paw's reach.๐พ
3. ๐ฝ Keep table scraps to a minimum. Thanksgiving food includes a lot of ingredients that are toxic to your pets, such as ham, grapes, garlic, and onions. Even turkey skin can cause problems for your pup! ๐๐ฆ๐ง
4. ๐จโ๐จโ๐งโ๐ฆ Thanksgiving is a family holiday, but it's okay to leave the fur-family at home. ๐ก It's already a stressful day for most pets, and introducing them to pets that they don't see regularly may cause more stress for them than it's worth. ๐ถ๐ฑ
5. ๐ช Guests coming and going mean escape-artist pets might seize the opportunity! Try keeping them in a closed room when guests are entering/leaving.๐ก Also, make sure that they're wearing up-to-date pet tags, as well as an active and updated microchip. โ
