🍭 Next up for Veterinary Receptionist Week is our sweet Duo, Debbie and Carol 🍬

Supportive, reassuring, and dedicated to the core — Debbie has a way of making every client feel like family. Whether it’s a warm smile at the front desk or kind words over the phone, she brings calm and compassion to every interaction. 😍

A true professional and one of the kindest hearts you’ll meet — thank you for everything you do, Debbie! We’re so lucky to have you! 🐾

Carol always greets you with a cheerful smile and a kind heart — the kind of person who quietly goes the extra mile to help wherever she’s needed. 😍

She’s calm, cool, and collected… and if you listen closely, you just might catch one of her signature soft-spoken jokes (they’re worth leaning in for!). 😂

Carol, thank you for bringing your warmth, wit, and generosity to the team every day. We appreciate you so much! ❤️

is all about Winnie!

This sweet girl is recovering like a champ after her left extracapsular repair—a surgical procedure used to stabilize the cranial cruciate ligament (CCL), which is similar to the ACL in people. When that ligament tears, it causes pain and instability in the knee.

The extracapsular technique uses a strong suture placed outside the joint to mimic the ligament’s function, helping stabilize the knee as scar tissue forms over time. It’s especially effective for small to medium-sized dogs—and Winnie’s a perfect example of how well it can work!

She’s been loving her underwater treadmill walks as part of her rehab plan, which helps build strength and motion without stressing the joint. And of course, no session is complete without her favorite reward: a sq**rt of sharp cheddar straight from the can! 🧀💦

We’re so proud of her progress—her happy tail says it all!

Warmer months mean more outdoor adventures! ☀️🐾 As you and your pup hit the parks and trails, remember that exposure to other pets’ waste can put them at risk for parasitic, viral, and bacterial infections. Keeping play areas clean helps protect everyone—scoop the 💩 and keep your pet safe! 🚮

🎊 Wednesdays are for Janelle and Louann 🎉

Ever call the hospital, anxious about your pet, and find a receptionist who really cares — someone who listens, reassures, and makes sure your pet’s needs are met like they were her own? Chances are, you were lucky enough to talk to Janelle! 🥰

Passionate, powerful, and always wearing a smile — Janelle is a true rockstar on our front lines. We’re so grateful for everything she does! ❤️

🗣️Give it up for Janelle this Veterinary Receptionist Week!

We’re also celebrating Louann! 😻

Louann is the kind of person who always brings a smile to work—literally! She’s the first to offer a hand when clients need help getting their pets or food to the car, and she’s never afraid to roll up her sleeves and jump in to clean rooms. 💪

Her easygoing, low-key vibe makes every day smoother for both our team and our clients. She’s a true friend and a calming presence we’re so lucky to have at the front desk. 💜

Thank you for being you, Louann! We appreciate you more than words can say, you’re paws-itively amazing!

This 7-month-old domestic shorthair had her very first visit with us at Pine Woods and wasted no time making herself at home—she explored every inch of the room like a true professional.

❗️❗️Lets hear it for Marilyn and Melissa! ❗️❗️

✅Marilyn is our even-keel, rock-solid, always-reliable superstar! She’s the Adaptil spray to our bandana (or the Feliway to our cat towel) — keeping things calm, comforting, and consistent every single day. 💜

A true staple of Pine Woods, Marilyn brings steady support and a peaceful presence to our team and clients alike. We’re so grateful for everything she does! 🐾

Thank you, Marilyn — we appreciate you more than words can say! 🥰

✅Melissa is our insurance warrior and multitasking queen! From wrangling paperwork to jumping in with the rehab team, she does it all with a smile. Did you know she used to be a veterinary assistant too? Total pro! Plus, she’s a proud Lab mom! 🐕‍🦺🦮 (let’s hear it for the lab lovers!!!!)

TrainingTuesday 🐾

Not all hero dogs wear capes… some wear vests, and others just bring the snuggles! Here’s your quick & fun guide to the three types of support animals you might hear about:

🦮 Service Dogs
Trained to do specific tasks for a person with a disability—like alerting to seizures, guiding the visually impaired, or retrieving items.
✔️ Protected by the ADA
✔️ Allowed in public places (stores, restaurants, hotels, etc.)
✖️ Not the same as emotional support animals

🐕‍🦺 Emotional Support Animals (ESAs)
Offer love and emotional comfort, especially for people dealing with anxiety, depression, or PTSD.
✔️ Recognized under Fair Housing (they can live in housing that doesn’t allow pets)
✖️ Not trained for specific tasks
✖️ No public access rights under the ADA

🐶 Therapy Dogs
Bring joy to groups of people—think hospitals, schools, nursing homes!
✔️ Often part of volunteer programs
✔️ Must be friendly, calm, and well-socialized
✖️ No legal public access rights—only allowed where invited

Each type of support animal plays an important role—but they are not interchangeable!

Meet Stella, a super tough Vizsla who’s been through a lot! 🐾

Over the years, she’s bravely faced multiple health challenges, including:

• IMHA (Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia): Her immune system attacked her red blood cells, but with treatment, she’s been able to keep going strong. 💪
• ITP (Immune-Mediated Thrombocytopenia): Another autoimmune condition where her body destroyed her platelets, but with care, she’s been able to maintain her health. 💉
• Calcinosis Cutis: A condition where calcium deposits form in the skin, but Stella stays as playful as ever. ☀️
• PLN (Protein-Losing Nephropathy): A kidney issue that can affect protein balance, but Stella keeps showing us her resilience. 🫘
• Endocarditis: An infection of the heart lining, but she’s been through treatment and still has that beautiful heart we all adore. ♥️
• Anterior Uveitis: Inflammation of the eye, but it hasn’t stopped her from seeing the bright side of life. 👀
• Gingival Hyperplasia: Overgrowth of gum tissue, but Stella still loves her treats, and her smile is as bright as ever. 🦷

Despite all this, Stella’s spirit is unbeatable, and her wonderful owner ensures she gets the best care and love. Her positive outlook on life is truly inspiring! 🐾

🐾🐰 Easter Pet Safety Tips 🐰🐾

As we near the time to celebrate Easter, it’s important to ensure our furry friends stay safe amidst the festivities. Here are some essential tips to keep in mind:

1. Keep Chocolate and Candy Out of Reach: 🍫
Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine, both toxic to pets, potentially causing vomiting, seizures, or even death. Additionally, sugar-free candies often contain xylitol, a sweetener harmful to pets. Ensure all sweets are stored securely away from your animals.

2. Avoid Using Plastic Easter Grass: 🧺
The colorful plastic grass used in Easter baskets can be enticing to pets but poses a serious risk if ingested, potentially leading to intestinal blockages. Opt for safer alternatives like tissue paper or shredded crinkle paper.

3. Be Cautious with Easter Lilies and Other Plants: 🌺
Easter lilies are highly toxic to cats and can cause severe kidney damage if ingested. Other plants, such as tulips and daffodils, can also be harmful. It’s best to keep these plants out of homes with pets.

4. Monitor Table Scraps and Human Food: 🥘
While it may be tempting to share your Easter meal with your pets, many common foods like ham, turkey, onions, garlic, and certain spices can be harmful. Stick to pet-friendly treats to ensure their safety.

5. Secure Decorations and Small Items: 🥚
Small decorative items, including plastic eggs and toys, can pose choking hazards. Ensure these are kept out of your pet’s reach to prevent accidental ingestion.

By staying vigilant and taking these precautions, you can ensure a safe and enjoyable Easter celebration for both you and your beloved pets! 🐶🐱🐰

: TENS for Pain Relief! ⚡🐶

Meet Sabrina, a 10/10 good girl recovering from her right TPLO surgery—with a little help from peanut butter and TENS therapy! 🥜💛

TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) works by sending gentle electrical pulses to activate nerves and block pain signals, making it a great drug-free pain management tool for post-surgical recovery, arthritis, and muscle soreness. Sabrina thinks it feels pretty relaxing… especially with a peanut butter jar in paw! 😆

Rehab should feel good! That’s why we use multiple modalities to keep our patients comfortable and healing smoothly. 💙

🐾 Training Tuesday: National Dog Bite Prevention Week 🐾

Did you know that over 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs each year in the U.S.? Most of these incidents are preventable with proper education and awareness.

This week, let’s focus on key strategies to prevent dog bites:
• Supervise Children Around Dogs: More than 50% of dog-related injuries involve children, especially those under 4 years old. Never leave young children unsupervised with any dog, even family pets.
• Understand Canine Body Language: Recognize signs of stress or discomfort in dogs, such as yawning, lip licking, or a tucked tail. These cues can indicate that a dog is feeling threatened or anxious.
• Promote Positive Socialization: Gradually expose your dog to various environments, people, and other animals to build their confidence and reduce fear-based reactions.
• Approach Dogs Respectfully: Always ask the owner’s permission before interacting with a dog. Approach slowly and avoid direct eye contact, which can be perceived as threatening.
