My dog ate something they shouldn't have...now what?

Pets are often curious which can sometimes lead them to eat things they shouldn't.

If your pet gets into something unexpected, try to:
🐾Call the pet poison control hotline if need be (855-764-7661 )
🐾Remove access of the item if it is safe to do so
🐾Keep the packaging or ingredient list if you are able to
🐾Note what was eaten and how much
🐾Contact your Veterinarian or local Emergency Clinic for guidance

Some toxins and foreign objects can cause serious problems. Even if your pet seems fine at first, its always better to ask.

🌟REBAB CONGRATS!🌟

🐾Brynn came to us after becoming reluctant to compete during one of her agility trials. Following her evaluation, she was diagnosed with bilateral iliopsoas strains and cervical (neck) discomfort. Iliopsoas injuries can take several weeks to months to fully heal, requiring a careful and progressive rehabilitation plan.
Brynn began her rehab journey with laser therapy and massage to help reduce pain and promote healing. As her comfort and strength improved, she gradually progressed to active therapeutic exercises. Thanks to her owner’s dedication and consistency with her daily home exercise program, Brynn has made excellent progress throughout her recovery.

🐾Mickey came to rehabilitation due to spinal pain that was affecting his proprioception, causing weakness and a wobbly gait in his hind end. Before starting therapy, he was unable to enjoy his mile-long walks and could only manage short distances.
As part of his treatment plan, a weight loss program was recommended to help reduce the stress on his spine. Mickey has been working incredibly hard, and we’re thrilled to share that he has lost an amazing 8 pounds since beginning rehab!
His mobility has improved tremendously—he is now taking more strong, confident steps and is moving more comfortably. We are so proud of all the progress Mickey and his owner made and can’t wait to see how he is doing at his check up!

⭐Canine Rehabilitation Graduates⭐
This week, we have two very special graduates from the same family! Both Luna and Charlie have worked incredibly hard in rehabilitation to prepare for their big hiking adventure this summer. To help get them trail-ready, we’ve challenged them with a variety of obstacle courses and uneven surfaces designed to mimic real-life hiking conditions.
🐾Charlie came to rehab following a bilateral FHO and iliopsoas pain. Throughout his treatment, he received laser therapy and participated in several hydrotherapy and active rehabilitation packages to improve his mobility and strength. Charlie quickly became a staff favorite with his sweet personality—and, of course, his love for cookies!
🐾Luna has been working through osteoarthritis in her hip and spondylosis. Luna is not the biggest fan of cookies, but loves to be praised for her hard work and always makes sure to check in with mom after every exercise. She especially loves the land treadmill and can even work her way up to an impressive jog!
We are so proud of everything these two have accomplished and can’t wait to hear all about their summer hike! ⛰️

AVMA Air Quality Tips to Protect Pets
-Keep pets indoors as much as possible, and keep your windows shut.
-Birds are particularly susceptible and should not be allowed outside when smoke or particulate matter are present.
-Let dogs and cats outside only for brief bathroom breaks if air quality alerts are in effect.
-Avoid intense outdoor exercise during periods of poor air quality.
-Higher risk pets include those with cardiac disease, lung disease, and breeds with smushy faces (persian cats, bulldogs, pugs, frenchies, etc).

This Rehab Wednesday, we are highlighting Intra-Articular Injections. These injections offer targeted joint pain relief and help reduce inflammation. If your dog is showing signs of pain (i.e., slow to get up from lying/sitting, having trouble jumping on furniture, not as active as they used to be), consider seeing Dr. Cely for a rehab consult. She will do a full evaluation of your pet to find where their pain is and come up with a treatment plan to get them feeling like themselves again!
