(BEAR) is an all volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to giving a second chance to Akitas in the North East who have been abandoned, turned into animal shelters, or are no longer wanted by their families. We are dedicated to saving the Akita, a breed of dog endowed with loyalty, devotion, intelligence and honor. We will work with families to help keep their Akita in their home, pr

oviding resources and one on one support. We are committed to helping as many dogs as we financially can. We will work to educate potential owners and the public about the Akita breed with a goal of reducing the number of abandoned, abused, neglected, or unwanted Akitas.

Why am I still here ? I am just a year and a half old and was picked up stray with a knitted sweater on before the holidays . I was found wondering in a city park in Philadelphia Pa . I was never reclaimed 😞
Star is a young female akita . She has been spayed, tacked , chipped heart worm negative and on preventative. Star is a lover , and kisser . She is very friendly , and appears to be dog tolerant so it’s possible after a meet and greet she can live with the right male . Star is great at the vets, walks like a superstar on leash and rides in the car well.
Star is food motivated and loves her toys .

You need me 🙂 Elsa is a 3-4 year old female spayed akita . She was picked up stray in the City of Philadelphia and take to animal control . Elsa is friendly with all people and is dog tolerant . It is possible she can live with the right large male dog after proper intro and acclimation time . Elsa knows some basic commands and loves zoomies. She would benefit from a nice big fenced in yard as she is an energetic gal . Elsa can at times be very strong on leash however she is great at the vets and rides like a dream in the car. Nice big girl too .
