🐾 Tuesday Tip: Be Prepared for Storms! ⛈️🌪️

Severe weather can happen with little warning, as we saw all over this area last week! It was very scary for many of us, especially when we have pets at home.
Having a plan for your pets is just as important as having one for your family.

Here are a few ways to help keep your pets safe:
🐾 Bring pets indoors early. Don’t wait until the storm has already arrived.
🐾 Make sure they have identification. A collar with current ID tags and a registered microchip can help reunite you if you become separated.
🐾 Pack a pet emergency kit. Include food, water, medications, bowls, a leash or carrier, vaccination records, waste bags, litter and litter box for cats, a favorite toy or blanket, and any other essentials.
🐾 Create a safe space. Move pets to an interior room, basement, or other secure area away from windows. Many pets feel more comfortable in their crate or carrier during storms.
🐾 Stay calm. Your pet looks to you for reassurance. Speak calmly and offer comfort if they’re frightened.
🐾 Have recent photos of your pet. If your pet becomes lost after a storm, current photos can make reuniting much easier.
A little preparation today can make a big difference when severe weather strikes. Stay safe, and keep your furry family members safe too! ❤️🐾

Marvelous Mutt Monday!

Meet Zane, a 1½-year-old wiggle butt with enough happiness to brighten anyone’s day!

This handsome guy was left tied outside our shelter in the middle of the night, and we’ll never understand why. But even after he came loose, Zane stayed right here for hours until we arrived the next morning. Talk about loyalty!

Now let’s discuss the important thing… his wiggle. It’s a full-body, can’t-contain-his-happiness kind of wiggle. He takes treats like a gentleman, and even when he’s bursting with excitement to see you, he’ll happily sit when asked.

Zane is looking for a family that will never leave him behind again—just a couch to share, lap snuggles (whether you think he’s lap-sized or not), and people who appreciate a few adorable snorts along the way.

Minnie’s Fund will be at Taste of Orland today until 7 PM! Stop by and say hi to Bertha and Paris, who are both looking for their furever homes.

The Minnie Memorial Fund, created by Joan and Wayne Hochwarter in memory of their beloved Minnie, helps provide life-changing medical care and surgeries for special needs dogs, giving them the second chance they deserve.

A huge thank you once again to Morgan Stanley for their incredible generosity! We are so grateful to the teams from the Oak Brook, Naperville, Geneva, Orland Park, and Joliet offices for their thoughtful donations that help us continue caring for the animals who need us most.

Helping us say “thank you” is Honey, our fun-loving Husky mix! Honey came to us at just 4 months old after we pulled her from CACC to give her the second chance she deserved. Now 9 months old, she’s still the happy little firecracker she’s always been, hoping her Husky-savvy family is out there and will give her the active lifestyle she needs.

Thank you again, Morgan Stanley, for making a difference in the lives of animals like Honey!
