🐾 Grooming Isn’t Just About Looking Good! ✂️🛁

Keeping your dog on a regular grooming schedule is so much more than keeping them fluffy, fresh and photo-ready. Consistent grooming is an important part of your dog’s overall health and well-being! ❤️

✨ Here’s why staying on schedule matters:

🛁 Healthy skin & coat
Regular bathing and proper products help remove dirt, dander, excess oils and buildup while keeping the skin and coat healthy.

🪮 Prevents painful matting
Waiting too long between appointments can allow tangles and mats to become tight against the skin. Mats can pull, trap moisture, hide skin problems and become extremely uncomfortable.

✂️ Less stress for your dog
Dogs who are groomed regularly become familiar with the process. Instead of waiting until they’re severely overgrown or matted, they’re getting small amounts of maintenance consistently—which is much easier on everyone!

🐾 Nails stay healthy
Regular nail trims help prevent overgrown nails, splitting, discomfort and changes in the way your dog walks.

👂 Ears get attention
Routine grooming gives us an opportunity to clean the ears when appropriate and notice things like excessive wax, odor, redness or irritation.

🦷 Better overall hygiene
Face, feet, sanitary areas and other commonly overlooked spots all benefit from routine maintenance.

🔍 Early detection
Groomers spend a LOT of hands-on time with your dog. We may notice unusual lumps, bumps, skin changes, parasites, ear issues or other things you might not see during everyday life. We don’t diagnose—but we can recommend that you have something checked by your veterinarian.

❤️ And perhaps most importantly…your dog feels better!

A good grooming routine should be based on your dog’s breed, coat type, lifestyle and individual needs. Some dogs may need appointments every 4 weeks, while others can comfortably go 6–8 weeks with proper at-home maintenance.

The goal isn’t simply a beautiful dog leaving the salon.

The goal is a comfortable, healthy, happy dog who feels as good as they look. 🐶❤️

If you’re not sure how often your dog should be groomed, ask your groomer! We’re happy to help you find a schedule that works for your dog and your lifestyle.

✨ Stay on schedule. Your dog’s skin, coat, nails—and their overall comfort—will thank you! ✂️🐾

The Bath Is Doing WHAT?! 🛁🐾

Think a deshed is all about brushing? Think again. 👀

These photos are from an actual client, and this is a perfect example of why the bath is one of the most important parts of a proper deshed.

With the right products, proper bathing technique, and the right equipment, a HUGE amount of that loose undercoat can be removed before we ever pick up a brush.

Here’s where the magic happens:

🛁 Thorough bathing — The right shampoo helps loosen dirt, dander, oils, and all that dead coat that’s hanging on for dear life.

✨ Professional products — We use Iv San Bernard products because quality products make a BIG difference when you’re trying to properly cleanse and release that undercoat.

💨 High-velocity drying — THIS is where things get wild. 😂 The dryer helps blast out loosened coat that was just waiting for its moment to make an appearance. And judging by these pictures… it definitely showed up to work!

🪮 Then comes the finishing work — Once the bath and blowout have done their job, brushing becomes much more productive. Instead of fighting through a mountain of packed-in coat, we’re removing what’s left and polishing everything up.

And yes… that pile on the tub really came off ONE dog. 🤯

A good deshed isn’t just “brush the dog until the hair stops coming out.” It’s a process — products + water + technique + drying + tools + experience.

The goal isn’t to remove every single hair (because, unfortunately, dogs did not sign that agreement 😂). The goal is to safely and effectively remove as much of the loose, dead undercoat as possible while leaving the healthy coat and skin in the best condition we can.

So the next time your dog comes home from a deshed and you wonder, “How in the world did there still seem to be THAT much hair left?”…

Just remember: the bath was already doing some serious heavy lifting. 🛁💨🐶

🐾🔥 HOT CONCRETE + DOG PAWS = NOT A GOOD SUMMER COMBO! 🔥🐾

We know you’re ready for your walk. Your dog knows you’re ready for a walk. But that sidewalk? It may be hotter than your mother-in-law’s attitude. 😂☀️

Your pup’s paw pads are tough, but they are NOT heat-proof. Hot pavement can cause painful burns, blisters, and damaged paw pads.

Here are a few easy ways to protect those precious toe beans:

🐾 Do the hand test!
Place the back of your hand on the pavement for about 7 seconds. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s WAY too hot for your dog’s paws.

🌅 Walk early or late.
Morning and evening walks are much safer than the middle of the day.

🌱 Choose grass or shaded paths.
If you can’t comfortably walk barefoot on it, your dog probably shouldn’t either!

🩴 Consider protective booties.
Some dogs need a little time to get used to them, but they can be a great option for hot surfaces.

💧 Keep those paws moisturized.
Dry, cracked paw pads are even more vulnerable. A veterinarian-approved paw balm can help keep them conditioned.

🚨 Watch for signs of burned paws:
• Limping or refusing to walk
• Excessive licking or chewing at the feet
• Red or discolored paw pads
• Blisters or peeling
• Whining or suddenly stopping during a walk

And remember: just because your dog is excited to go outside doesn’t mean the pavement is safe. Dogs are pretty terrible at making sensible decisions when there are squirrels involved. 😂🐿️

☀️ When in doubt, skip the pavement! Your pup will happily accept an indoor nap as compensation. 😴🐶

✨ Is your dog’s skin trying to tell you something? ✨

If your pup is constantly scratching, smelling “doggy” way too soon after a bath, has flaky skin, greasy fur, hot spots, or a dull coat… it’s time to stop treating the symptoms and start treating the skin. 🐾

💙 That’s where our Ozone Therapy Bath paired with the Iv San Bernard Skin & Coat System comes in!

🌿 What is ozone therapy?
Ozone-infused water helps gently cleanse the skin, reduce bacteria and yeast, soothe irritation, improve circulation, and create a healthier environment for the skin to heal naturally. Think of it as a spa treatment with a purpose!

🇮🇹 We pair it with the Iv San Bernard system from Italy—not just shampoo and conditioner, but a customized skin and coat program based on your dog’s individual needs.

🐶 Whether your dog has:
✨ Itchy skin
✨ Allergies
✨ Yeast issues
✨ Excessive shedding
✨ Odor that comes back too quickly
✨ Dry, flaky skin
✨ A dull, lifeless coat
✨Inflamation

…we have a treatment plan designed specifically for them.

Because here’s the truth:
🐾 Healthy skin grows a healthy coat.

Your dog deserves more than a quick wash—they deserve skin care that makes them feel amazing from the inside out.

📅 Ask us about adding an Ozone Therapy treatment to your pup’s next grooming appointment. Once you see (and smell!) the difference, you’ll wonder why you waited so long! 💙🐾

🚨 CALL TO ACTION: Temple, do right by Pearl’s Place.

Pearl's Place & Sanctuary is one of the most respected medical rescues in Central Texas.

They take in some of the hardest neglect, abuse, and medical cases. They operate a grooming business. They host monthly low-cost vaccine clinics that have helped thousands of pets stay healthy and out of shelters. Every day, they help keep animals off our streets and reduce the burden on local shelters.

If the City of Temple, Texas - City Government needs this property for a public project, then Pearl’s Place deserves a fair offer—not just for the land, but for the true cost of relocating a rescue, sanctuary, grooming business, and community vaccine clinic.

The City’s lowball offer raises questions our community deserves answers to:

• Was Pearl’s Place offered enough to fully relocate a medical rescue, grooming business, monthly low-cost vaccine clinic, and sanctuary for 70+ animals?

• Have other property owners facing eminent domain received fair offers, or has the City consistently undervalued community businesses?

• If there are vacant properties surrounding Pearl’s Place, why was this location chosen? Were those alternatives fully evaluated?

• The City says this project has been planned since 2019 and is unrelated to proposed data centers. Even so, has the City’s rapid growth accelerated the timeline for acquiring this property?

• What is the true cost to our community if Pearl’s Place is forced to scale back services because it cannot afford to relocate?

These are fair questions. Asking them is not opposing a water tower. It is asking for transparency, accountability, and fairness.

📢 We need our advocates to speak up. 📢

Respectfully contact the City’s right-of-way representative and Temple leadership. Tell them Pearl’s Place deserves a fair offer that reflects the true cost of relocating this invaluable community resource.

Temple can build the water tower and treat one of our community’s most valuable animal welfare organizations fairly.

Let’s make sure they do.

Pearl's Place & Sanctuary in Temple is facing a possible relocation as the City plans to build a new water tank on its site.
