I haven't posted in a while as my whole family has been battling the flu again. Just coming off being sick and I leave for a well needed week of vacation on Friday. Haven't been around the shop much as I've been taking care of the kids. So the agenda to get caught up when I get back is as follows:

Finish full body bear
Finish 2 alligators & fawn deer and deliver
Finish and paint 4 Walleye and 3 perch.
Start some early season birds and deer.

In the meantime here is one of the last euros left from the 2024 calendar year.

NOT YET FINISHED

Working on another bear, this one full body. Cinnamon colored black bear from Manitoba is getting a full body mount. Last night I put together the front and tonight finishing the back half. Should be pretty sweet when all done.

The last of the euros are just about done. Just a few more weeks. This happens to be the one my cousin got off of our family land in WI. I bet he will be pretty excited to see it again.

I don't do many of them, but on occasion a nice full body tom turkey comes through the shop. This is the last one from the 2024 season.

Snuck in a couple whitetail between other projects and just finished this nice 9 that was taken locally. This one will join a trophy room that is nothing short of amazing already. Here's to hoping it stands out amongst the others.

Big ol' bruiser from Manitoba on a rock that I made from scratch is all finished up. He'll get a blowout before send-off just to keep that extra fluff. Bear are a pain but boy do I like the results.

There's always something interesting going on at the shop and today was no different. In fact, I had an unexpected visitor stop by while I was open. Insectopia swung in to check out the shop and after finding out I have a post-secondary education in Fisheries Management, our conversation took a deep dive into the entymology (study of insects) world. Strangely enough, I still have specimens from my college and natural resources days and I was able to help Insectopia out with a specimen they needed for one of their live seminars.

What a small world it can be sometimes, and educated discussions are always welcome here. In fact, it kind of made my day as I don't get to dive into that science world often anymore.

Anyway, go check out the page and see if one of the seminars is for you. Could learn a little something and have a new addiction.

Happy Easter everyone!

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and today especially.

Turkey season started in a lot of places this weekend, and I'd love to hear some stories of how it went. Look to Heritage Taxidermy for all of your turkey taxidermy needs.

Pictured is a recently put together full body turkey. It needs some things done to it yet to touch it up including preening, double beard attachment and the habitat work. When its done it should make a nice addition to this client's trophy room.

Hope to hear some success stories and see some birds come in for various mounts.

Some of you saw the reel the other day of how I had to cut a large portion off this bear mannequin because the cape was too short. Well, after that and some other heavy modifications (which all bear forms need), I'm pretty happy with it. Its not done yet and will have some tweaks, habitat and finish work yet, but its well on its way to being a beautiful trophy.

Been working on getting a bunch of skin mount fish done lately (among other things), including this jumbo perch from Lake Erie. Sometimes carving my own forms is a necessity to get the right fit. This one is a left facing S-curve with tail up and back. This skin is ready to go on the form. Should make a cool mount when done.
