We’re proud to be Pierce County’s pet resource center, a role we can only fill thanks to the support of our community and our partnerships with county and city municipalities. Earlier this summer, we signed a new five-year agreement with our long-time partners at Pierce County, continuing our shared mission to make sure pets and the people who love them have access to the care and resources they need.

On August 5, we received 84 cats and kittens in our already overcrowded shelter. But as we always do, we welcomed these cats into our care with open arms.

All of these cats came to us sick to some degree. Our animal care team was quickly on the case.

These cats need a lot of resources in order to get them ready for adoption. Resources that you, our community, can help provide.

We are asking that if you are able,

Just yesterday, 84 cats and kittens were removed by Pierce County Animal Control from a dire situation. Many sick, underweight, and some caring for newborns. One kitten needs emergency surgery after her eye ruptured from severe illness.

Now safe at our shelter, they’re getting the urgent care they need — but with over 460 cats and kittens under our care in the shelter and in foster homes, we need your support to keep up.

☀️Need a little sun in your life? Sol is a ball of sunshine!

Sol has been thriving in his foster home. The first day out of the shelter he got a bath and relaxed outside in the evening sun. His foster parents said he was an angel from the start.

🐶Sol is an all-around great dog. He's gentle, quiet, and friendly to everyone he meets. Sol even loves to cuddle but will happily return to his own bed for a good night's rest.

Sol is the perfect pup for a first-time dog owner or someone who has had dogs before.

🐾 Saturday Happy Tails from Whisper! 🐾

Whisper came into our shelter with around 50 other cats. All from one home.

Myles, being a kennel aide at the time saw how reserved and quiet Whisper was. Then one day all that changed and Whisper jumped into Myle's arms and didn't want to be put back down.

Myles and Whisper both knew this was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

"He loves cuddles, pets, attention and is a full-time biscuit maker".

"He's even become a therapist for my preexisting cat who was always bullied by my sister's cat... he's finally giving her the friend she's always wanted".

Sometimes we truly don't pick the pets that come into our lives, they pick us💚

How is Nikita still available after the first day of our fee-waived adoption event?! Well, that just means you have to hurry over to the shelter before we open at 10 a.m. tomorrow to bring her home! Thanks FOX 13 Seattle for shining a spotlight on Nikita!
