Lili was diagnosed with high-grade mammary adenocarcinoma with metastasis following a surgery to remove a mammary tumor last week. We're booked with an oncologist in a couple weeks to explore further treatment options, but it's looking like our days together are going to be more numbered than I'd like.

I've cried, a lot. Hug your little ones a little extra tonight.

I crossed off one more spot on my dog photography location list - tulips at Mount Vernon.

The older two were pretty good about letting me pose them, but Nike's teenage brain was a little 🤯 so we didn't try too much with her.

It's a pretty long drive, but I think I'll try to go again next year, at a slightly less busy time, so we can really take our time walking around and sniffing all the things.

Next stop, lavender in Sequim?

My best girl turned 9 freaking years old today and I am absolutely not okay 😭.

My sassy pants ma'am-sies has been the absolute best first dog a girl could ever have and I wouldn't ever pick another to replace her. She's put up with all my awkwardness and clumsiness as I've explored all the many aspects of dog ownership with her. She's been the best role model for Howru and especially Nike and was such a good momma to her puppies.

Here's to many more years together, okay? 🥹

March just came and went so fast that I haven't had time to process it and now we're almost halfway through April 🤯. Y'all get my very belated catch-up posts because I have so many photos I want to share.

We stayed with Manta the Eurasier and his humans while we were down in Oregon for the AKC show. This trio was so good together - Manta was absolutely enamoured with the two of them as soon as they met. Nike took a minute to warm up to him, but Leif met his half brother and they became immediate besties 🤝.

Hoping we have the opportunity to see them again this year 🤞🏻.

Covering this post with this very cute photo of the trio from my stories waiting for patiently for their pup cups while drooling on the car 🤤.

Also Lili and Howru earned their NASDA UL-1 titles this past weekend and earned their first set of points towards their UL-2 titles! UL-2 is going to be a trek since we need 400!! points, so we'll be here for a while. There are a few trials coming up in the summer but...summer is a rough time for sports 🥵.

Wrapping up 🌸Sakura Szn🌸 as the petals flutter to the ground in a pretty little snow. Obviously I had to take the matriarch out for another session after she's been cooped up the past few weeks recovering from a paw injury 🩹. She's my most cooperative model and always so fun and easy to shoot.

Overall, this has been a very fun and intensive learning experience for me, getting out so many times with the dogs these past couple weeks. I def feel like my eye for composition has improved, though whether or not my editing skills got that much better is debatable 🙈. I still have so many photos to go through and edit so expect a photo dump coming up 🤪.

Next stop, tulip season 🌷!

Attempt #5 at 🌸Sakura Szn🌸, this time struggling to figure out my camera settings to get multiple subjects in focus while also not muddying up the background too much. Also, this whole series has been a big learning experience in terms of how to use my editing software to compensate for my amateur camera skills. So pardon me if things look a little over edited since I don't really have a "style" per se, and this is just a big experiment in playing with sliders.

Also thanks to my bff for waking up before dawn to let me shoot her and get dogs, at not one but TWO locations because the first one didn't work out 🙈.

Attempt #4 at 🌸Sakura Szn🌸, with a light colored dog that had me struggling with getting him to pop out right in edit 😵. I don't think I've quite got it where I want it, but it's good enough for now. It was fun having another human involved since it expands the possibilities for what kind of photos I can try taking.

Attempt #3 at 🌸Sakura Szn🌸, this time with the boss madam, my poser-in-chief. I'm really happy I managed to find a shot with only a couple people to edit out. And I'm fairly satisfied with the framing on this too? My eyes are starting to cross from staring at some many cherry blossom photos over the past few days but that ain't stopping me from going all out this weekend 😤!

I might try my hand at this spot again at the crack of dawn this weekend to get some shots of the others without the crowd. Fingers crossed I make it out of bed at 5:30 am 🙈🤞🏻.

Attempt #2 at 🌸Sakura Szn🌸 with the Wubbins. I'd like to think the blossoms look better this time??? They aren't actually this pink irl but I like to take a tiny bit of artistic liberty when I'm editing to make them pop out a bit more. I'm having fun with these shots - I love a good pastel and this is the perfect time of year for that color palette 🤌🏻

I'll be back with our next attempt when it's not raining 🫩. Or maybe I'll risk it because there won't be any crowds the way 🤔??
