I am so thankful to all my Grit City Kitty-ers for their patience while I celebrate my friend of over three decades marry the love of her life. After an excruciatingly busy holiday season and a January that feels more like blur than reality, Grit City Kitty is back open and running full steam ahead after a warm and wonderful much needed break south of the border.

I didn’t have to look too hard to find the beautiful views, rewarding hikes, sandy beaches, stray animals, amazing food, cool art, and vibrant culture I was longing for. I also spotted a Grit City Kitty t-shirt wearer on the beach. Yes, I brought him with me. And yes, you can acquire your own Grit City Kitty t-shirt! Just ask me how.

I’m working on my closure schedule for 2027 and am taking reservations through the end of 2026. My next closure is March 18-24.

Future availability is decent right now, though I am fully booked this weekend and filling up quickly for the rest of the month. As always, I will keep everyone updated with my availability limitations and closures.

Thank you to everyone who was patient with me while I rested! And thank you all for giving me a great job to come home to! I’m looking forward to loving your kitties in 2026.

The holiday season kicked off with a roar and all my friends at Grit City Kitty would like to remind everyone to keep love and grace in your heart, and remember to purr.

I am fully booked through January 4th and I will be closed January 16-25 for a much needed siesta following my busiest time of year.

As always, thank you all so much for helping make my dreams come true. You and your furry family members have brought endless joy to my life!

Grit City Kitty is back open after another beautiful and relaxing vacation in Belize for my birthday.

Thank you to everyone who reached out while I was gone for your grace and patience. I had about a hundred people to get back to the last couple of days so if I missed you, please do reach out again!

And as always, thank you dearly from the bottom of my heart for making my dreams come true and sharing your furry family members with me. I am eternally grateful for you all!

My friends over at the fabulous Whisker Wellness Center would like to introduce you to Houdini! 😻

Can you believe a handsome guy like Houdini needs a home? He grew up in a hoarding house with a large number of neglected Ragdoll mix kitties who were rescued and put up for adoption through Feisty Felines. Houdini is quiet and peaceful and just wants an understanding soul who can help him feel safe and loved in his forever home. 😻 We found him to be charming and gentle and wanted to get the word out there! “We don’t need a professional pet-sitter. Our cats have automatic feeders, litter boxes, and water fountains. We have cameras everywhere and a smart home. Our cats are healthy and don’t need medication. They even have electric, interactive toys!”

I hear this a lot. People think cats are independent and fine alone.

So here is an abbreviated list of some things I’ve encountered while caring for Tacoma’s animals.

-an automatic chicken coop door failed, locking the chickens in their coop.
-a kitty got into something (likely from stress and boredom) and became very ill.
-a basement flooded when the water heater went out.
-a home alarm malfunctioned.
-a kitty figured out how to open a window and escaped.
-a kitty locked themselves in the laundry room.
-there was a break in attempt.
-a kitty caught their leg in the couch and freaked out causing a major injury.
-a kitty knocked over a glass vase leaving shards of glass all over the house.
-a tree fell on the house.
-the kitties knocked over, unplugged, chewed through wires, etc causing the auto feeders, litter box, and water fountains to stop working (this is VERY common).
-kitty stopped eating.
-kitty turned on the TV at full volume and the neighbors complained.
-a kitty ate pillow parts.
-a human forgot to lock their car, house, fill water, set alarm, this list goes on.
-human’s homecoming was delayed and the auto feeders needed refills
-smoke detector ran out of batteries and beeped incessantly, terrifying the pets at home (also super common)
-there was an electrical fire

I know there have been more incidents that I’m not thinking of right now, but for every one of them my clients have been able to count on me to make good and swift decisions, and to show up when I’m needed.

I’m not saying you should hire me specifically, but I am saying that having a trusted and competent person to watch over some of the most important things in your life while you’re gone has benefits beyond the tasks themselves: peace of mind, relaxation on vacation, energy to focus on your present moment, whether it’s a work trip, a funeral, a vacation, a deployment, or relocation. Hiring a professional is the best option!

My friend Zoey would like to remind everyone that Grit City Kitty will be closed September 26-October 9. I will be reopening on October 10th another year older, very well-rested, and ready to take on the fall and winter holidays!

Also, as a reminder, my boarding services are booked for Christmas, but I do still have availability for Thanksgiving, and I still have a few pet sitting slots open for both holidays.

Remember to take care of yourself and others! We’re all in this together!

It is with no joy that I announce Grit City Kitty’s new rate schedule effective September 1st. If you have already booked a reservation with me after September 1st, you are locked in at the old rates. Any new reservations will be booked under these new rates.

Most of you know how passionate I am about quality pet care remaining affordable. I have spent most of my life helping people and animals and I desperately want to keep Grit City Kitty open and operating at full capacity.

Thank you all so much for your support and loyalty over the years! You have helped me to follow my dreams and heart, and I promise to continue to provide the best care possible for you and your furry family members. As always, if times are tight, let’s talk. I might be able to help!
