Good morning, We took Fenway in for her pregnancy x-ray this morning and are sad to report that she is not pregnant. This happens rarely, but of no fault of hers. We are very specific when we breed, with our timing and duration. We do not progesterone test prior to breeding due to our breeder vet being 1+ hr away, and it needs to be done consecutive days. So it is sometimes possible, even with our knowledge and experience, that we miss the window. We feel that we are ethical breeders and we don’t just continue to breed our dogs until the female refuses the male. We find less breedings, in closer time frame help preserve our females health, energy, and helps prevent puppies of massively different sizes, which in itself causes issues for those tiny babies, some of which may be up to 7 days younger when born than the larger pups and have the potential for underdevelopment and health issues. As we make these decisions with care. We acknowledge the possibility that we may miss a pregnancy. While not ideal for anyone. We do this in the best health interest in our dogs and future puppies. If you are interested in future litters, follow us here. We are not expecting any heats until fall.
