It is ok to take baby steps with your dog. Some things are like therapy for your dog and will take time to learn. Baby steps give you something to build off of and set your dog up for more success.

Be aware of your dogs energy level when they’re playing. If they get tense it’s time to sit down and calm down. You want them to get the most out of socializing. Once they have calmed down they can go back playing.

Head halters are effective for redirecting a dog a lot like you would a horse. Turning the head and the nose away from the object they are wanting to go toward will cause the body to follow. Some things to remember for the holiday.

I had the pleasure working with this handsome little guy earlier today. We got to work on his reactivity and working on some skills that will work when his family goes home for the holidays. They did really good and can’t wait to see them in the future.

A reason that our dogs love our shoes is that they can smell everywhere that we’ve been and it’s exciting. We wear our shoes to the park, to the grocery store, to our friends’ homes, to the office, to the mall – literally everywhere. There is no way that our dogs would not be interested in the different smells that inadvertently come home with us.

Do not fall for the "cute face". Dogs will often test boundaries and see what they can get away with and use to get away with. Often it will be the "cute face". Don't fall for it. You're not being mean setting rules and boundaries for your dog to follow. We all have this in life.
