If your dog is receiving different messages about his behavior, he won’t understand what you want from him. That’s also true if individual family members enforce different rules. Sit down as a family and discuss the rules, boundaries, and limitations you want to set for your dog. It can be helpful to write them down and display them somewhere prominent.

The idea of redirection is to provide a stimulus that will distract your dog from whatever they’ve fixated on, whether it’s another dog, a person, a squirrel, or a noise outside. Ideally, you’ll want to associate whatever sound you use for redirection with a reward.

Training sessions are tailored to fit you and your dogs needs. If you decide to train be prepared to work with your dog at home to maintain what you and your dog are learning and grow. Training is just as much owner training as it is dog training. You learn to interact and read as well as direct your dog. The overall goal is to help you and your dog live harmoniously as a team.

Very very good session with raven earlier. We decided to work early before it got hot. Tibby came to help (black shepherd in front). She did amazing well.

Your dog will mirror your energy. If they are acting up take a few breaths to calm yourself. Then speak in a calm assertive tone.

You can break your dog from jumping. Don’t acknowledge them when you first come in to give them a chance to calm down. You can use a sq**rt bottle for correction. If they’re all over you walk straight forward. That’ll get them if you keep going forward to jump down and turn away.

I’ve had the pleasure of helping with some sweet animals over the years. I’m trying to wrap my head around this a sweetheart passed away more recently. He lived a good long life. I’m glad I got some love on him more recently. I get attached to Client animals too, so it makes me sad whenever they do pass. Thank you for letting me get to know your sweet animals.
