Yes you are seeing double. Tibby helped with working with Raven again today. Raven has made such amazing progress. I’m proud of the owners. She has made really good progress on her reactions to different things and her listening skills. Y’all have done an awesomely looking forward to next week. Raven has been working on her being reactive and so this is amazing progress for her and her honors of the learning how to use the right tool for the job to be able to handle. The backpack has been a big help to give her a distraction and actually give her more exercise to burn her energy carrying stuff. So proud of the work that they have put into this is amazing progress.

I still plan on Training even though it’s raining. Unless the rain gets too bad we can use the covered picnic area at Mark Watson Park so we can still work around the weather. There’s a couple of other covered areas I make use of around town.

Teaching the “Leave it” command works well in preventing toy aggression. Food aggression can be avoided by teaching your dog to wait while you put their food down. Teach them to sit or lie down and then remove their food and then put it back.

Distracted on the walk:
Some dogs like to stop and smell the roses. And then stop to smell them again and again… You can prevent this behavior by keeping the leash short (but not tight) and your dog’s head up. Maintain your calm-assertive energy and stay focused on your destination. Then allow your dog brief breaks to stop, explore, and relieve himself. These breaks are your dog’s reward for following you on the walk instead of their nose.

Raven made excellent progress yesterday working on her reactivity. Tibby came along to help. I really applaud her owners for not giving up on her. Y’all are doing an awesome job. Sometimes like a construction project it’s learning what tools to use for the job and that’s what one thing they’re learning how to use a backpack to help her. Good job guys.

You may enjoy some time with a nice lapdog, but you’re hurting their ability to maintain the household rule for other guests who may not only dislike the behavior but actually be allergic.

If your dog approaches things from an excited mindset go slower when you approach them. Stop and let your dog take it in from a distance then work your way closer. Over time this works on slowing down the mind.
