🐱We want to take a moment to recognize and sincerely thank one of our incredible rescue partners, The Biggest Little Cat Rescue (TBLCR). 🐱

Jennifer H., TBLCR President, and her dedicated crew of Lassen County board members and fosters go above and beyond EVERY DAY to save as many kittens and cats as possible. Their commitment doesn’t stop at the basics—they consistently step up in challenging situations, open their homes, and put in countless hours of care, rehabilitation, and support for animals who otherwise may not have a chance.

We would also like to recognize the many local individuals who help make this lifesaving work possible. Special thanks to Rayna Medellin, TBLCR Director, and Cannon, TBLCR Secretary, for their leadership and dedication to the rescue's mission. We also want to acknowledge Grentzer, who faithfully transports cats and kittens each week to ensure they receive essential spay and neuter services, helping reduce pet overpopulation throughout our region.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Mimi Brasher and the many other foster volunteers who open their homes and hearts to animals in need. Foster homes are truly the backbone of rescue, especially during the busiest and most demanding time of year—kitten season.

TBLCR continues to make a meaningful impact throughout our rural community, and the staff at LCAS deeply appreciates Jennifer and her entire team for the compassion, persistence, and countless hours they devote to helping animals.

This kind of work is often difficult, frequently criticized, and rarely thanked. Today, we want to change that and simply say: thank you. Your work matters, your impact is real, we SEE YOU, and we are grateful for everything you do for the animals in our community.

As kitten season continues, TBLCR is always looking for compassionate individuals willing to open their homes and become foster caregivers. If you've ever considered helping save lives, now is the perfect time to get involved.

It truly takes a village—and we're grateful to have TBLCR as part of ours. 🐾❤️

‼️EDIT ATTENTION: The pet food pantry is a courtesy we extend to our community. It's unfortunate that we have members of the public coming down and attempting to take ALL of one item (cat food/dog food).‼️

The pantry will be locked. You must come to the front desk to ask for assistance. You may take 2 bags maximum in case you have dogs AND cats. 🔒

📣More items in the pet food pantry this morning. Come down and browse.

❗️Reminder: Please be kind and leave food behind for other households in need.

❗️Additionally, do not call the shelter to ask what is left. We are incredibly short staffed and are focused on caring for the animals in our facility. Thank you !

Our shelter staff work tirelessly every day to care for animals young and old — from tiny kittens to large breed mama dogs and everything in between. Right now, two dedicated staff members are doing everything they can to keep tails wagging, kennels clean, and animals safe and comfortable. 💛

We are currently in need of a few important supplies:

• Regular bleach (please no splashless varieties)
• Fire pellets/stall pellets for cat litter
• Large plastic kiddie pools (used is perfectly fine!) to use as whelping boxes for large breed dogs

Every donation, no matter how small, helps lighten the load for the people caring for these animals and improves comfort for the animals depending on us each day.
