This adorable pup came in with a bit of itching and turns out, Demodex mites were the cause! 🕷️⬇️

Demodex is a microscopic mite and infestations are most common in dogs less than a year old, especially those with immature immune systems. It lives in hair follicles and is usually detected via a skin scrape viewed under the microscope 🔬 (swipe to check out those tiny moving legs!). Most pups recover quickly with the right care! 💪🏼

Meet Luci, a lovely Malinois whose heartworm diagnosis we confirmed one year ago. During her initial visit, we were able to see live microfilae under the microscope, further supporting our diagnosis. Treatment started right away, and now as of last week, she is officially heartworm free! Huge thanks to our team for their dedication and to Lucí’s family for their commitment to her health. Year round prevention is key, early diagnosis and treatment make all the difference!
