Big day for DJ as he reunited with his parents today! He was so happy to see them again. We spent a good amount of time together discussing his progress and practicing what he has learned. His parents are excited to maintain the training at home to keep him in a healthy mindset!

DJ is learning that there are tasks he has to tolerate and that using his teeth to express his disapproval isn’t allowed. His ears have been a challenge to groom but being a doodle plucking that hair to keep his ears healthy is essential!

Spicy doodle update. Not so spicy in the crate now, I’d describe as mild! This morning was the first time DJ got up and came to me to allow the slip leash to go over his head. His go-to move as of late has been to resist, not move his head and become really tense when I try to move leash over his head. Big improvement!

I met with Maverick, the Aussiedoodle, and his owners twice this week to work on his walking and greeting skills. A few tweaks and some education for the humans have already made huge improvements!

Mom was tired of having her shoulder nearly pulled off, and the head halti that he wore wasn’t helping to truly guide and train Maverick to not pull. He was spending much of the time fighting it as it irritated his nose quite a bit. We switched to a prong collar, and mom is already enjoying walks together and doesnt have to use her whole body to slow him down.

We also worked on ways to teach him how to properly greet and help him settle and stay out of the way when people come into the home.

Sunny has been busy during her second week of Day & Train. She is practicing her recall from greater distances and in different spaces. Today she tackled Lowe’s and was excited to see so much new stuff.
Her greatest challenge so far is learning to do nothing.

Day 5 and DJ has made huge progress with his crate behavior. We haven’t fully changed his mindset as I’m seeing moments of attitude in other places, but this is a good sign that he has altered how he feels about being released out of the crate with me.
