Incase anyone is interested to know Raising Stars Lunar Eclipse @ Van Huitt got her DNA tests back and she is an Atypical merle. MC210/MA+258 and this is what is causing her unique pattern. She is not D/D dilute. She is an exceptional pup. She is bold and fearless, well b***d with great structure. And we couldn't be happier with her 💕

All of our pups leave with their first core vaccine, which they recieve between 7 and 8 weeks. Due to the potential for maturnal antibody interference we recommend additional vaccines be given at 12 and 16 weeks(puppy series), additionally a rabies vaccine should be given after 16 weeks.

Many vets will tell you that your pets need a booster of their core vaccine, every 1-3 years. However the truth is these vaccines are generally effective for life and do not need to be boosted. In fact there are risks to over vaccination. The 1-3 year booster is the result of pharmaceutical companies wanting to sell more product. I am adding a great website from a veterinary clinic who explains the proper use of vaccines as well as risks of over vaccination and the reasons they don't support over vaccination.

Our dogs all recieve their puppy vaccines and do not recieve boosters (unless required for travel).
We have never had a dog come down with a virus covered by their initial core vaccines. (Even when directly exposed).

This being said not all dogs recieve immunity from vaccines and it is a good idea to have your dog titter tested to know whether they are immune or not.

I feel I should make a post telling a bit about ourselves so heres our mission statement.

At Van Huitt Australian Shepherds we are dedicated to raising happy, healthy, versatile, companions. Continuing the breed that we love, and keeping Aussies out of shelters.

In our breeding program our first focus is temperament. Our dogs are raised with our children and we expect them to be patient and biding. We also expect them to versatile and trusting, whether its at home or on the go we expect them to be ready for any adventure.

Another top priority is health. All of our breeding dogs are DNA health tested for genetic disease. And evaluate by us for good structural conformation. Our puppies all go home with first shots, dewormed, and microchiped.

Structural conformation is very important to us as it has alot to do with health and versatility. Other conformational traits such as coat length, color, ear set, ect, are secondary concerns.

All of our puppies go home under a contract this contract is to protect our puppies throughout their lives. In this agreement is a contractual requirement stating that if for any reason one of our puppy parents cannot or does not wish to keep their Van Huitt puppy, it is to be returned to us. This is to ensure that no Van Huitt Australian Shepherd ever ends up in a shelter or rescue. As a further step to ensure our pups never end up lost, homeless, or abandoned, every puppy leaves our care microchiped with us listed as a permanent backup contact.

We offer lifetime support for all of our puppies and dogs, and on occasion we offer emergency behavioral intervention training to Australian Shepherds outside of our program too. If you are experiencing issues with your Aussie, don't hesitate to reach out.
