We wanted to share this, because Nicholas is a very important part of the Court house here in Monroe County, PA and a very special patient of ours.

Thursday May 1st stop over to our friends at ShawneeCraft Brewing Company from 4:30pm to 7pm to meet Nicholas, learn about his career in court, check out his kissing booth, and challenge him to a round of Tic-Tac-Toe! Ticket prices include all you can eat and 2 drink tickets! There will also be Tricky Tray baskets, and free pets for Nicholas 🥰

Great article showing good evidence of delayed spaying and neutering in many breeds. More and more data shows NOT to spay and neuter your dogs before at LEAST 12 months, and some breeds later than that. I'm not sure why SO many vets still recommend juvenile gonadectomies for their client dogs.

Patient age at the time of surgery may influence health issues later in life. Review all the necessary considerations of gonadectomy before and after maturity.

Spring is right around the corner, make scooping p**p part of your spring clean-up! We know everyone is busy, so you can also contact Scoop The Poconos for pet waste removal services ;)

Cleaning up after your dog is important for several reasons:

Health and Hygiene
1. *Prevents the spread of diseases*: Dog waste can contain harmful bacteria, viruses, and parasites that can be transmitted to humans, other animals, and the environment.
2. *Reduces the risk of water pollution*: Dog waste can contaminate water sources, harming aquatic life and human health.

Environmental Concerns
1. *Protects local ecosystems*: Dog waste can alter the nutrient balance in soil and water, harming plants and animals.
2. *Conserves natural resources*: Proper waste disposal helps maintain clean waterways, parks, and green spaces.

Community and Social Responsibility
1. *Maintains community cleanliness*: Cleaning up after your dog helps keep public areas clean and pleasant for everyone.
2. *Respects others*: Proper waste disposal shows consideration for fellow dog owners, residents, and visitors.

Legal and Regulatory Compliance
1. *Avoids fines and penalties*: Many cities and towns have laws requiring dog owners to clean up after their pets.
2. *Supports local regulations*: Compliance with waste disposal regulations helps maintain community standards and supports public health initiatives.

By cleaning up after your dog, you contribute to a healthier, more sustainable, and more considerate community.

Don't forget, we also recommend checking yearly samples, so make sure to bring a fresh stool sample to your pets' next wellness visit 😀

Our friend was here for surgery because she ate plastic, however, we found a surprise unwanted guest hanging out in her intestines during surgery today!

We know, it's gross 🤢 But this is why it's so important to keep your pet on a good year -round flea and tick control, as well as a regular deforming schedule! This is a Tapeworm 🤮

Do you guys remember Blitz, the newest member of the Search and Rescure Team? Well, she has started her training, and her handler, Emy, provided us with a video of her progress. We wanted to give you a sneak peek into the hard work and dedication that goes into training these incredible dogs. From puppyhood, these dogs and their handlers put in the hours. This video is an example of what Search and Rescue calls a Runaway - This is how we start our puppies for search and rescue. They use squeaky toys and food to get the prey/play drive going. One person will hold the puppy while the handler runs to hide. When the puppy gets to the person hiding, they receive big rewards and play. As the puppy progresses, the distance increases. Next, the puppy will do it blind, so they dont get to "see" what direction the person ran off to. The puppy develops subject loyalty and enjoys the "game" and rewards. Eventually, they are doing area searching! Dogs can be trained for live find, remains, and provide valuable help for families missing their loved ones.
