Well as the season starts mine comes to an end. Time to get ready for youth weekend and get the babies on one of their own! Tagged out on my target buck early.

The John boat buck story from the Hunter himself.

have had this deer on camera since 2020 looking to be 2-3 years old at the time.

I made a shot on the deer a few inches back hitting the liver. I watched him walk off for 75 yards stopping a couple minutes at a time before disappearing into a bottom. There was good blood the first 50 yards and then drops of blood that suddenly stopped. I called Tanner who got his friend Logan to come with his dog, Buddy. Buddy followed to the last blood and eventually found the deer barely alive. During that time I was 100-200 yards away still looking around for blood. The deer ran into a large beaver pond and swam 100-150 yards out. Buddy was with the deer the whole way. By chance of luck like out of a cartoon show, there was a John boat just a few feet away on the edge of the pond. Logan and Tanner hopped in and pushed out there with small pine trees as pushing poles. They retrieved the deer along with Buddy in the boat.

Without Buddy there is no way I would have found the deer. A few years of history with this deer that had an insane ending. Thanks Logan and Tanner for all the help.

It’s just bow season and we are already, assisting with tracks and putting together memories to share with yall. Hang tight an explanation is coming just know a time was had.

(There is no motor on this boat) hunting by boat wasn’t the start, recovering by boat was the end though.

2026 Meat house ministries hunt is under way and being planned.

Sorry I’m not real tech savvy. The event thing said October 24th that is incorrect. It is November 21st for the lunch and service. You MUST be present at lunch to get a free entry into the contest. Men, women, and kids. You can hunt Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday! Scales close Sunday Night after the evening hunt.

Men’s prize will be a gift certificate for one thermal deer recovery from Closer to Heaven drone services.

Women’s and kids prizes are still in the works.

2026 Meat House Ministries Big Doe contest will
Be happening opening weekend. Nov, 21st will be the lunch but the co fest will be the duration of the entire weekend meaning anyone who attends can enter a doe Saturday afternoon and also on Sundays this year. Mens, women’s and youth prizes to be announced soon
