Well y’all… we’d like to formally introduce the newest “team member” at the clinic — Miss Clairee Mae 🪿💕

With her undeniable Southern charm and a personality bigger than a front porch in July, Clairee Mae has taken it upon herself to oversee daily operations (and judge everyone who walks in 😌).

She may not have a veterinary degree, but she does specialize in:
✔️ Greeting clients
✔️ Supervising from her post
✔️ Bringing a little extra joy to your visit

So next time you stop by, don’t forget to say hello to Miss Clairee Mae — just mind your manners… she’s got standards, honey 💁‍♀️🌸

What is pre-anesthetic bloodwork and why is it important? Let’s talk about it!

Live Oak Animal Hospital encourages laboratory tests for your companion prior to administering anesthesia for surgery and certain procedures. Every surgery and procedure has risks, but bloodwork gives a clearer picture of your pet’s health status before undergoing anesthesia or sedation. Our goal for your pet is to mitigate the risks and identify disease processes early. There is benefit of having baseline lab values to compare to if your pet has a change in health status later.

A Complete Blood Count provides screening for infection, anemia, and other blood disorders. A Basic Metabolic Panel provides screening for organ function through evaluating electrolyte balance, renal function, glucose, and liver function. If a health issue is identified, Dr. Palmer will make a recommendation and treatment plan specific for your pet.
