Home of the Cooper Clinic, the first and only low-cost wellness clinic in Springfield, MO. We are a NO KILL animal shelter located in Springfield, Missouri. The shelter has many wonderful dogs and cats available for adoption. Our adoptions are first come, first served with an approved application. Adoption hours are Monday-Saturday from 12:00-6:00pm and Sundays from 12:00-5:00pm. Adoptable pets ca

In an effort to end the pet overpopulation problem in Southwest Missouri, the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri also offers spay and neuter services to the community and low-cost spay and neuter services to those who could not otherwise afford it. Introducing Kika! This sweet 10 month old Australian Cattle Dog mix wants to be your best buddy! Kika loves to play, gobble up treats, and chase tennis balls. With her high energy level, she'd thrive with an active family who loves outdoor adventures! Even though she's active, she has her calm moments too and will cuddle up by your side after all the fun has resided. She loves affection and won't hesitate to give you kisses once she's comfortable! 🥰

Kika came to us as a stray, fearful at first. She has been opening up with staff day by day and is familiar with the routine now, but she can be very shy with strangers in the beginning. Once she gets more familiar with you, she'll start showing off her true personality! Kika is a bright light, and with a trusting human next to her every step of the way, we know she'll thrive. 🌟

She seems to be a quick learner and is very curious of the world around her. Kika does great in the car and really is such a loving girl. We know she will make a very special companion for an adopter, so come on down to the shelter to meet her yourself! 💖

Wednesday Basics Class: September 3 - 24
🐾 Learn sit, down, stay, obedience skills, name recognition, walking on a leash, safety skills, and more!

Thursday Tricks Class: September 4 - 25
🐾 Tricks taught include wipe your paws, say your prayers, head down, crawl, shake, wave, spin, and more. All dogs at the end of the session can earn a trick dog title!

At the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri, we believe every animal deserves a second chance. We're dedicated to providing a safe space to pets just like Sassy who need a little extra medical care. ❤️‍🩹

Meet Sassy, a 10 year old Terrier mix looking for a calm and quiet home where she can thrive. She joined our shelter due to her previous owner sadly passing away. This little lady has some special needs - she is diabetic and hard of seeing, but that doesn't stop her from being a loving and loyal companion. Our goal is to find her a forever home where she'll be cherished and lovingly cared for day in and day out. With her age and reduced vision, we believe a home without energetic dogs and young children would be best for her.

Sassy has the most loving heart and absolutely loves head scratches and being cuddled. She enjoys being talked to and perks up at voices she recognizes. You'll often find her burrowed into blankets or snuggled up in a ball, and she loves nap time. She is house-trained, and when her paws touch the grass outside, she knows exactly what to do! Sassy also knows the routine with her diabetes and just needs an adopter experienced with insulin/blood sugar checks or one willing to learn. We're happy to teach you!

If you're ready to provide a serene and loving home for this special girl, we'd love to hear from you! As a bonus, we have SPONSORED Sassy's adoption fee to help take some initial costs out of the way. She is so incredibly sweet and gentle and is hoping someone will give her a chance. Our adoption center is open 12-6pm Monday-Saturday and 12-5pm Sunday if you're interested in meeting her. 🐾
