Fostering is one of the ways we save lives here at the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri. πŸ•πŸˆ

Becoming a foster with us is simple, and the extra care that foster homes are able to provide is so crucial to our mission. Have you been interested in fostering but not sure where to start or what it entails? Learn more about fostering with us below!

🐾 To begin, just fill out a foster application on our website (https://www.swh.org/foster-sign-up.html) and our foster coordinator will be in contact with you! You must be at least 18 years or older and pets must be allowed at your residence in order to foster with us.

🐾 We provide everything for you when you foster - it's completely FREE! You can foster kittens, puppies, and more. We guarantee there's a furry friend for every family to foster! You can foster short-term or long-term - the duration is up to you. There are so many options when it comes to fostering with us.

🐾 Once the foster period is complete, you'll return your foster animal back to the shelter and they'll begin the search for their forever home. If you have fallen for your new furry friend and don't want to part ways, you get first choice of adopting them if you want to make them a permanent addition to your family!

Join us at 3161 W. Norton Road today from 9am-1pm for our low-cost vaccination and microchip clinic! Our clinic is designed for the public and is walk-in only. Spots are limited to 80 people, and each individual can bring up to 3 pets with them. It's first come, first served!

Here's how the clinic works:

🐾 Registration will begin around 8:30am the day of the clinic and the clinic will begin at 9am. When you arrive, line up at the front door to receive a form for each pet and a number. This number is your spot in line. We will ask for a good phone number to reach you at so you can take your form back to your vehicle to complete and wait there until it's your turn. The form needs to be filled out completely for all pets attending the clinic. Once you receive a phone call informing you it's your turn, bring your number, form(s), and pet(s) inside and our staff will take it from there!

🐾 For your pet's safety, all dogs must be on leashes and all cats must be in carriers during the entire duration of their visit to the shelter. If you are bringing multiple cats, please separate them and use an individual cat carrier for each cat.

🐾 The clinic will run until 80 people are registered or 1pm, whichever comes first.

- Individual Vaccines: $12 each
- Cat Package (FVRCP, Rabies): $20
- Dog Package (Bordetella, DHPP, Rabies): $30
- Dog Package with Lepto: $40
- Microchip: $25 each

Note: If it's your dog's first Leptospirosis vaccine, you will need to have a booster shot administered one month later. We will have the initial vaccine and boosters at all future vaccination clinics.

Hildi here! I'm looking for a fur-ever home that comes with loads of squeaky toys, training games, walks, and love! πŸ’˜

I'm a 2 year old Australian Cattle Dog mix, so I have loads of energy to burn, and a fresh young mind ready to learn cool tricks. I can be timid and shy if I don't know you, but I'll be the best dose of friendly and fun chaos you've ever had once we're acquainted! 🫢

My favorite toys are squeaky, and my favorite bed will be yours. I'm a big believer in an active lifestyle and keeping your mind sharp. I've heard that you can do some really cool things through training, so I'd love to do loads of that! I honestly can't wait to go home and do all the fun things with my new people. Does this sound exciting to you, too? Then come down to the Humane Society and meet me!

Another fun fact is that my adoption fee is SPONSORED with an approved adoption application. 🐾

A huge shout-out to Missouri State’s Homecoming Committee for organizing a supply drive for our shelter during homecoming week! πŸŽ“πŸ»πŸΎ

Students collected several items from our wish list that will help us out in multiple different areas of the shelter, and we couldn't be more grateful. Thank you so much for your support!

Hey there, I'm Maise - your future best friend! I'm a bundle of joy full of playful energy, and I'm as smart as a whip! I've completed a 7 week training program and know the commands sit, stay, down, leave it, and more. ✨

As a 4 year old Australian Cattle Dog mix, I'm as sweet as can be. I love to play fetch and tug of war, explore the great outdoors, and I love car rides! I'd prefer to be your one and only baby - a child-free home as the solo pet is ideal - as I want to be spoiled and have all the attention on myself! I promise to fill your life with laughter, love, and loyalty. Adopting me means gaining a friend for life! πŸ’–

If you're interested in meeting me or any of my adoptable friends, stop by the shelter soon! Adoptions begin at noon every day at 3161 W. Norton Road. 🐾

Meet Pocky! Pocky is a 3 year old Domestic Shorthair mix looking for a serene home. This kitty loves to lounge in the sun and enjoys his independence. He's best suited for a child-free environment where he can relax on his own terms, however, he does enjoy the company of other cats! If you're looking for a sweet and calm cat, Pocky is ready to be your companion! πŸ’™

It's been a great week of adoptions! πŸŽ‰

Thank you to everyone who has opened up their home and adopted a new companion. We had 6 animals adopted through our Veterans Day special earlier this week, and pictured are just a handful of the fur-babies that have recently went home!

In addition, Cinnamon was recently sponsored, and she got adopted before we could even post! Thank you Jim Roebuck-State Farm Insurance Agent for sponsoring her adoption fee and helping senior dogs find their homes.

Remember, you save two lives when you adopt – the animal you take home, and a space opens up to help another animal in need. Seeing all of these happy faces makes our day! Our adoption center is open 12-6pm Monday-Saturday and 12-5pm Sunday, no appointment needed. 🐾
