Meet Indy (aka Butch). On loan from Rosamond Gifford Zoo.
Indy came to us in Novmember 2012. He is housed off exhibit at the Bull Elephant Facility where Patience and Moola have visited him many times.

Henry the Hippo, the much-loved former resident of Dickerson Park Zoo, seems to be settling nicely into his life at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden.

Hippo Cove opens in just 10 days! As you can see from this photo, provided by one of their keepers, introductions are going well! You can see Henry and Bibi in their new exhibit starting July 21. The exhibit opens early for members (8am) and at 10am for general admission.

Sad news about the state of elephants in Vietnam. A population that once numbered in the thousands is now a few dozen.

An "epic slaughter" of wild elephants is under way in Africa, with tens of thousands being killed every year for their ivory. Poachers have already done their worst in Vietnam, where only a few dozen elephants remain.

Sad news from Cameroon. Poaching continues to increase pressures on wild elephant populations.
