Since Springfield has consistently been experiencing heat advisories, please remember that as temperatures rise, so does the risk of heatstroke and bloat in dogs.

Please keep these safety tips in mind: Always provide fresh, cool water.
Exercise dogs early morning or evening when temps are lower.
Signs of heatstroke-Excessive panting, drooling, weakness, or collapse. Seek vet care immediately if you notice these signs.
Large, deep-chested breeds are especially at risk for bloat. Warning signs include restlessness, swollen belly, unproductive retching, or drooling. Bloat is a life-threatening emergency—if you see these symptoms, call your vet right away.
