Stella is a five-year-old cat. When she was four, her owner, Brett, began to notice she wasn’t finishing her food. Brett scheduled a wellness exam, and our team performed bloodwork to get a clearer picture of what might be happening internally. The results revealed early signs of liver disease. Because it was caught early, our team was able to create a treatment plan involving dietary changes with ongoing monitoring. Stella’s story is a reminder that even small changes in daily habits can signal something bigger and that bloodwork can uncover what we can’t see. If your pet’s habits have changed, even slightly, it may be worth a closer look.

Max is a one-year-old goldendoodle who loves long walks, tug-of-war, and greeting everyone he meets. To his family, he seemed perfectly healthy. During his first visit, at 8 weeks old, our team recommended bloodwork to establish a baseline. His results showed mildly elevated liver enzymes. Because it was caught early, our team was able to follow up with additional testing and set up a monitoring plan to support his liver health. Sometimes health changes happen quietly. Routine bloodwork can help detect potential concerns before symptoms appear, giving pets the best chance for early care.

This Earth Day, take your pet outside and get your hands dirty — together. A pet-safe garden is one of the best ways to enjoy the season while keeping your four-legged family member in mind. Stick to pet-friendly plants like sunflowers, marigolds, and pet-safe herbs, and skip the pesticides and fertilizers that can be harmful if ingested.

A little planning goes a long way toward a garden that's beautiful for you and safe for them.
