The sunshine is calling, the grill is heating up, and the long weekend is finally here! ☀️ With weather looking promising this Memorial Day weekend, here are a few quick reminders to keep your furry family members safe while enjoying the fun:

🐾 Watch those paws – Sidewalks and pavement can still get warm in the sun!
💧 Hydration is key – Bring plenty of fresh water for outdoor adventures.
🌭 Skip the BBQ scraps – Hot dogs, bones, onions, corn cobs, and fatty foods can upset tummies (or worse!).
🎆 Keep pets secure – Holiday gatherings can mean open doors and nervous pets around loud noises. Make sure collars/tags are up to date!

Most importantly—enjoy the extra snuggles, sunshine, and time together this weekend ❤️🐶🐱

⭐ Meet the Team Monday! ⭐

Today we’re spotlighting an amazing new team member who started her journey with us here at Oakbrook last month!

Brooklyn was raised mostly in Kansas and moved to the Gardner area about 5 years ago. Growing up, her mom was a vet tech, and they always had lots of animals. She was involved in youth rodeo, 4-H and FFA as a kid. Later on, she started working at a large animal clinic in Montana during her junior year of high school and hasn’t looked back!

Her favorite things about vet med are, advocating for pets and animals that need our help. She also loves general surgery and getting to teach owners something fun or new!

Add some likes and loves to this post as a warm welcome. Be sure to ask Brooklyn about her 4 kitties next time you're in and get a chance to meet her! ❤️

EDIT...results are in! Dr. LARRY Garten started with Oakbrook in 2000 "roughly at or around" (this was a tricky task trying to think back & remember when exactly it was, haha!) and is celebrating 26yrs with us (yup we'll just go with that).
Needless to say, we utilize a reliable scrub uniform place now that doesn't make errors...but he got a kick out of "Richard Gartner" and just never got it fixed. Be sure to ask him about it next time you're in! 😆
