🐾 Did you know the American Heartworm Society Canine Guidelines now highlight the use of Global FAST® Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) for dogs with heartworm disease?

On pages 17–18, AHS recommends Global FAST® (AFAST® + TFAST® + Vet BLUE®) as a powerful tool to:

🔹 Detect cavitary effusions and intracardiac heartworms
🔹 Identify lung pathology (e.g., pulmonary thromboembolism, interstitial infiltrates)
🔹 Recognize cardiac changes supportive of pulmonary hypertension
🔹 Assess systemic pressures via caudal vena cava and hepatic venous distention

These guidelines reinforce that Global FAST® isn’t just for trauma—it’s essential for diagnosis and management of heartworm patients.
