Staffed by volunteers so there is not always someone present. Beginning in 1992 as a non-profit animal rescue group, A.S./A.P. (Associated Society/Animal Protection) evolved into a no-kill, limited capacity cat shelter by 2001. Since it's inception, the independent organization has functioned solely on private donations, fundraisers, and volunteers. There is no financial support from the county, s

tate, or any other group. Our mission is to take in stray cats and kittens as space allows and find permanent, loving homes for them after they're examined by a veterinarian, FIV/Leuk tested, wormed, vaccinated, flea-treated, spayed/neutered plus treated for whatever medical conditions they arrive with-anything from respiratory infections to broken bones and gunshots wounds. We have an outreach program where we can offer some help to people with their own cats (or cats they find) depending upon our available resources. The cats housed at A.S./A.P. get a clean, warm environment with nutritious food, lots of compassionate care, and plenty of time to run, frolic, and interact with other cats and people. There is a wide variety of personalities and surely one that is just right for you. Potential adopters complete an application and are screened for the ability to provide permanent, quality care for a cat. Our staff try to match the adopter with the appropriate cat for their home, and follow-up support is available after the adoption.

Hi, friends! I'm Suriya, and I'd love to share a little information about FIV.

When people hear "FIV," it can sound scary, but the truth is that cats like me can live long, happy, healthy lives with proper care and regular veterinary checkups.

I hope this graphic helps answer some common questions and shows why FIV+ cats deserve the same love and chance at a forever home as any other cat.

🖤 Meet Moki! 🖤

Moki is the complete package—handsome, fluffy, and full of personality! At just 1½ years old, this big boy has an even bigger heart and absolutely adores people. He's one of the first cats to greet you at the door, ready to tell you all about his day with his sweet little meow.

This sweet gentleman loves pets, attention, and simply being close to his people. Whether he's playing or sitting beside you, Moki is happiest spending time with the ones he loves. With his piercing yellow eyes, luxurious fluffy coat, and gentle personality, he's impossible not to fall in love with.

Based on the interactions we've observed at the shelter, Moki has done well with the other cats. We think he would do well in a home with another feline friend following a slow, proper introduction.

Some cats make you smile the moment you meet them... and Destiny is one of those cats.🐾

At just 7 months old, she's a gentle, affectionate girl who loves people and simply wants to be close to them. Whether you're reading a book, watching TV, or relaxing after a long day, Destiny will happily curl up beside you and keep you company.

She has a curious, playful side too and is even learning how to fetch her ball! 🧶

Because her interactions with other cats have been limited, we're not sure how she'd do with a feline friend. She may do well with another cat after a slow introduction, or she'd be perfectly content being your one and only.

He would also like everyone to know that he's the most handsome orange kitty at the shelter. 😸

Between us... he is the only orange kitty at the shelter, but we won't tell him any different. I mean, just look at that face... we can't tell him otherwise! 🧡
