**Dr. Meyer update**

Thank you all for the continued support, kind messages, and patience during my recovery.

I’m happy to share that starting next week, I’ll slowly begin seeing small animal patients on a limited basis as part of my gradual return to clinical work. While I’m still under medical restrictions and working closely with my surgeon to ensure a safe recovery, this is a big and exciting step forward.

Please continue to check our page for updates as I’m able and allowed to increase my availability. I’ll share changes to my schedule and hours here to keep everyone in the loop.

Looking forward to seeing some familiar furry faces again soon!

Dr. Meyer Medical Leave Update
July 17, 2025

Many of you know I sustained a right foot fracture on May 7. It’s now been just over 8 weeks, and while healing is progressing, it’s been a slow and steady journey.

Two weeks ago, I was cleared to return to limited administrative duties and have been working 4 hours a day, 3 days a week at the clinic. I'm still non-weight bearing on my right foot, which continues to limit my clinical work.

I’m currently working with my surgeon to develop a safe and sustainable plan for returning to patient care. If recovery continues as expected, I hope to begin seeing small animal patients on a limited basis within the next 1–2 weeks, gradually increasing my availability based on healing progress.

My return to equine care will take longer, as it requires greater physical demands, and I want to ensure a complete recovery to support the long-term health of both my career and my patients. I’ll be reaching out to my equine clients directly with a hopeful timeline as my recovery progresses.

Thank you all for your continued support and patience - and for the kind messages, check-ins, and thoughtfulness during this time. It’s been incredibly heartwarming and genuinely appreciated. I look forward to getting back to doing what I love, one step at a time (literally). 🐾 🐴

Please continue to check our page for regular updates - it’s the easiest and most efficient way for us to share news and changes with our amazing community.

Please welcome Dr. Blake Murphy to the team!

Dr. Blake Murphy grew up in Bothell, WA. He attended the University of Washington for his undergraduate degree and was a proud member of the Husky football program. Dr. Murphy then traveled east where he received his veterinary degree from Washington State University in 2006. The first 19 years of his veterinary career were spent serving the Snohomish, Bellevue and Mill creek area, before joining the Pilchuck team in 2025.

His special interests are internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and dermatology. The highlights of his day are connecting with clients and their pets on a personal level and developing a trust that ensures a lifelong healthy/happy relationship. When away from the hospital, Dr Murphy cherishes his time with his three kids, his wife Stephanie and their 5 pets. His most “interesting” hobbies include collecting action figures and restoring/collecting vintage pocket knives.

A quick reminder to plan ahead for the Fourth of July – and those often-terrifying-to-pets fireworks! If you are interested in sedatives for your animal companions, please call 360.568.3113 to request a prescription BEFORE the holiday. Note: In order for a pet to receive a prescription, he needs to have had an exam within the past year.

We’ve been working hard to get our new underwater treadmill up and running since mid-year last year. It’s been quite the journey with a few bumps along the way — our first one fell through, and the second one came with its own set of snags. We were aiming for a March launch, but unfortunately, we’re not quite there yet.

That being said, our treadmill room is looking better than ever! We've got fresh paint, new floors, and a brand-new shower stall. Our room has been ready to go for a while now, but there were some unexpected shipping delays, and even some of our packages got lost along the way! But the good news is, all the pieces are finally here, and we’re just waiting on confirmation for installation and training dates.

We’re SO excited to get this treadmill up and running, and we can’t wait to share it with all of you! Thank you for your patience, and stay tuned — we’ll be ready to go soon!
